I was really looking forward to this venue and the artist I saw tonight. (Ripe and the Revivalist) I had never really been to Lowell, and actually surprised by the quaint downtown area. And had an awesome dinner before hand (shout out to Fuse and the tuna burger! 🙌🏼)
However, it was expected to rain. EXPECTED. For whatever reasoning, the event was moved indoors. INSIDE A HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. According to the website, this only occurs when it's expected to rain for "prolonged periods of time"..there was a 30% chance of a possible thunderstorm. The bands JAMMED! 🤘🏼The acoustic were actually good, but, that venue was SO HOT it made the show hardly enjoyable. Between the heat, the fixed seating, and inability to even HAVE a beer or food AT MY SEAT..it was really disappointing. There's of course no way to predict the weather, but I'd take standing 5 hours in a poncho in the rain over ever standing in the auditorium EVER again. We were even thinking about enjoying a drink somewhere after the show in downtown, but were so disgustingly drenched in sweat we headed home instead.
I love that a small venue like the outdoor space is getting such fun bands. And Lowell is getting some business from it, but if the events are ever indoors, don't even bother going. Hopefully we can enjoy the actual venue at some other time, but the venue set up tonight was truly disappointing (and WICKED uncomfortable.)
Ripe and the Revivalist, you rocked...
Read moreI've been to a few concerts here and they've all been disappointing. No one dances and people get mad if you do. Trombone Shorty was literally asking people to get up and dance and I was still getting yelled at for standing. It would be a great venue for slower music where you don't want to dance but I wouldn't go for anything fun. Probably fairly discouraging for the...
Read moreOne of the best pure venues in New England, beautiful and historic setting - but - the Venue doesn’t match the bands they book. When you book jam bands and the like you can’t expect everyone to sit. You either book Lyle Lovett with chairs or have Los Lobos without. This has been the problem for years and the venue has never...
