Natural Grocers — Local services in Lubbock

I give this store a 1 only because of reputable products like ph strips or beeswax other companies brands. I went the first time to Natrual Grocers in July 2023. I moved to this area from DFW and was not used to this type of customer service. I am new to herbs as well. Like a big do do brain and did not ask what store policy was. I bought 180.00 dollars worth of thier Natural Grocer Store brand herbs. I bought some books as well, not from them. Thank God I didn't spend more money there to learn about herbs on how to use them, infuse, tintures, etc... So I put all my herbs in containers to be ready to use when I need them. On 7-29-23, I decided to infuse 12 herbs mint, spearmint, chamomile etc. In 100 percent olive virgin oil. Per instructions of book, I shook every day but could not smell anything. I thought maybe it was the olive oil that is too strong. So I googled it why my dried herbs have no aroma It said that herb is no good and toss it as no herbal properties left in herb. So I went to Sister Herbs and took herbs from Natrual Grocers in and compared them with their herbs. I could smell their herbs right out of the bag. So I bought some herbs from them. I then went to Natrual Grocers and spoke with manager and compared sister herbs to their herbs. She agreed no aroma not even with bag open. So she said store policy can't return but two items with out receipt. Said if I have a receipt to bring it and if within 30 days they can return it. Well I got a call from Natrual Grocers Customer Service out of CO. I was told even if with a receipt and in 30 day period, they will only return 2 items. I asked the lady why they were putting out bad product. Told her so I am stuck with all these bad herbs and lost money on oil I bought as well. She was well it is not our policy. Well, I pray they go out of business because this is bad BUISNESS. I think you are safe buying products from that store that is not Natrual Grocers Brand. Oh, store customer service was nice. I will shop at Sister Herbs from now on. They do show great product and great customer service. Whole foods, Trader Joe's sprouts would not do this type of business. I am within 30 days and a receipt with their bad product and nothing they can do. So if you do buy their herbs, keep your receipt and only buy 2 herbs. That way, you will not loose money. This is only one bin of Herbs. I used 3 cc's to pay for all these herbs. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Who has that kind of money to throw away. I feel like I just had a wad of cash and thew it away. Not trying to bash them but a warning regarding the Natrual Grocers Herbs and their bad policy and customer service. I feel like they would rather lose a customer for 180...

I was so happy when Natural Grocers opened. Their Mission included providing affordable healthy products, education & information about the products they carry, and friendly service. They lived up to all that and more with employees who really cared about people and who were generally pleasant and smiling. This store quickly became "my grocery store". I loved shopping several days a week for fresh produce and whatever else I needed or wanted. The staff always greeted everyone as they came in, and all seemed eager to greet customers throughout the store and check to see if we were finding everything we needed. They were comfortable answering our questions to educate us....and eagerly helped us by offering to special order any items they didn't have in the store, or order cases of things we used lots of. The staff members got to know the customers, and customers felt like they belonged. SADLY...ALL THAT HAS CHANGED OVER THE LAST YEAR! I have come to dread entering the store. I go to get just what I can't find elsewhere and can't do without. Many of my friends have stopped shopping at Natural Grocers altogether. I enter the store & often no one is in sight...staff or customers. I shop up & down several isles before I run across any employees or customers. When I do see employees (even when there are customers) they seem to be avoiding any customer contact....and sometimes even act like they're suspicious of everyone. They don't look at customers unless the customers speak to them - which I usually do - and they don't ask if the customer is finding everything ok or expressany other greeting. They just quickly respond "hi" then look away to rush on. This has become the most unfriendly, unwelcoming store I've been in. I go in only about 3 or 4 times a month, now, & get out as quickly as I can since the atmosphere is so uncomfortable. Even checking out is odd since often 2 or 3 customers will be waiting at the register with no employees in sight for 2 or more minutes, only to be checked out by some lady who looks at us with suspicion & momentarily forces a short smile. Wierd.... What happened to employees like Windy, Emily, Randy, Trevor, Jeff, Sharon, and Adam???!! I guess they moved on to other friendly places. These current employees sure could have learned some valuable lessons from those...
