Mariellen's Hallmark Shop — Local services in Ludington

They have a great selection. However, their customer service is lacking. We walked in at 4:35 and we were told as soon as we walked in we will be closing very shortly. Then as we began to walk down stairs we were told "I'm closing that area down in 10 minutes-" 15 minutes before the store closes. Then as we were shopping in the lower level the worker roped off the top of the stairs (we were the only ones in the store) and came down and stood down there while we looked. She then turned off half the lights while my daughter and husband were still looking. Then once my daughter made her choice, she turned off all the lights in the basement before they had even left the area. It was still 5 minutes before they closed at this point. Very disappointing. We were finished shopping and out of the door by 4:59. The worker tried to make friendly conversation as we checked out, but it was fruitless after all the discourteous interactions. Can everyone just acknowledge that a privileged kid is commenting about the sweet little ladies at the Hallmark are “profiling” customers when he CLEARLY doesn’t even know what that means. Workers are required to protect the goods of their store and if someone chooses to outright act suspicious then a worker has every right to watch them! Getting defensive is merely a representation of guilt. i adore the selection of candies and stuffed animals!! i collect squishmallows and palm pals and they always have some of the newer ones i can't find in my hometown. i had to dock two stars because the last few times i have visited, an employee was ALWAYS following me around the shop. when i went with family one time, they also noticed the same thing. i have read reviews that claimed to have a similar experience with this shop. kind of weird and...
