Nice spot for getting quality hiking and camping equipment along with other odds and ends to help you on the trails. Such as maps, snacks, clothing, shoes, fishing gear. However, everything in here is rather expensive. Most people coming off of the AT usually don't have much money so it doesn't really help to be the AT outfitters and not cater to the piggy banks of those walking the AT. Besides that the overall vibe of the store was low. It smelled like dog and cheap incense so much that it was over bearing. The lady's tending the store were also chatting in the back the entire time which I felt was somewhat un professional. But 🤷🏼‍♂️

This was such a cool gift shop and one of the best in Luray! They have all types of camping stuff, hiking gear and gifts! They also had a doggo to greet us when we visited :) 12/10 loved our experience here!

Great place with all the hiking and camping gear you could need. They have Altra shoes, Darn Tough socks, Kuhl apparel, and much more. Very friendly and knowledgable staff.

I have been in contact with the store owner and they have been so understanding of the situation I was put through. I appreciate the owner's ability to communicate with his customers and make sure they're taken care of, it meant a lot to me. Thank you Appalachian Outfitters!

Quality brands, is the only good thing about this store. They had very little in stock when it came to sizes. The customer service I experienced was horrific. I attempted asking the women there if the sign for 20-30% excluded any items (like pants or clearance items); she did not let me finish speaking when she decided to educate me in front of the entire store about what a sign is and that they were displayed throughout the store. The people who watched just laughed and I was stunned with embarrassment. I left without making a purchase. Later that day, I called the store asking for the manager and the same woman answered. She would not give me the store managers name until I told her why I was asking. I proceeded to tell her that she humiliated me and again she interrupted me saying no one has ever complained about her. I again asked for the manager and was told she wasn't there; so I left my name and number. I have not received any response. I would rather drive to Fairfax, for hiking apparel, then ever step inside that...

Superb customer service and merchandise. My husband blew out his15 year old Asolo boots while in Shenandoah National Park on Friday. I did a quick Google Search, called, spoke with Linda who held two pairs of boots which met his needs perfectly. He drove down to the store and Linda was great and very understanding and helpful while easily handling all of her customers. He bought a great pair of North Face Hiking boots at a great price. Less than an hour an a half later he was back in the park and ready to go. The boots fit perfectly without any rubbing after two days of tough hiking....
