Halloween is my favorite time of year so I always make a stop here when I visit home in October. After experiencing haunted houses in 6 different states this is still one that I visit over and over again. The storylines are always enjoyable and though they don't usually scare me I appreciate that all of the actors try really hard. I will say though, they got me this year!!! The 3D Mind Maze is an awesome continuation of the experience and I hope that never goes away. It's been really cool in the past how they get actors from well-known shows like American Horror Story to come out and sign autographs, etc. They did a haunted escape room a few years ago that was really cool. I'm kind of bummed they got rid of the photographer but I only ever bought those pictures once. This year is notable, to me, because my boyfriend and I were visiting from Iowa and I didn't realize that Darkwood had moved strictly to online sales only. I explained to the lady at the ticket booth that we were visiting from 15 hours away and she sold us her last promotional tickets so that I could show my boyfriend what I had been bragging about for months. Thanks Fraulein! He was definitely impressed and y'all got him good! This is a Halloween tradition that I will continue to...
Read moreWent on Saturday evening. Our group arrived around 815 and the line was relatively long, but I have been here before and the line moved pretty fast so I figured a long line was no problem.
We waited in line and the line barely moved, it took us over two hours to get half way to the front. It began raining and then they finally started pushing the groups into darkwood faster. 2 hours for the 1st half of the line then 40 minutes for the second half of waiting in the line.
We go inside and the group ahead of us is going so slow we ended up walking into the back of their group several times. I tried to wait and let them get ahead of us because the actors were not ready because they just did the group five feet in front of us. Then the group behind comes pushing up from behind.
Ended up going through the whole thing in less then ten minutes and only one person got scared and that was only once. They have a no refund policy and you have no idea how long the wait in the line will be. Definitely not worth $15 a person to stand in line for about 3 hours and rush through the house...
Read moreFirst I have to say, there are WAY more then 2-3 actors... The actors are what made that place!! They were amazing!!!! They put their heart into it, you can tell. Between myself and my husband we paid $40 total for the house and the 3D maze. I understand why it's a little high, a lot goes into it and I'm sure it's not cheap! We did wait 2 hours, but it's worth waiting that long because you go in with a small group. I love that. It was just 2 of us, and there was another couple behind us and we went in with them. The couple we went in with was super cool, and they were scared like we were. I would NOT of had as much fun if they let big groups go in. The actors interact with each one of you, and with a big group that wouldn't be very fun. So yea there is a wait, but I would rather have the wait and have fun. The details inside the house are just awesome. I love this place!!! LOVE IT...
