Y'all, half of Page County showed up to Taste of Home Downtown Monday!
There was a little bit of a wait (they're still working out a few minor kinks), but it was worth the wait. The food in itself is fantastic, and I tried a few different things and enjoyed the home cookin'. They have a phenomenal dinner buffet from 3-7 pm Monday through Thursday, and they always have a very robust all you can eat salad bar ($9.99 for one trip | $12.95 for unlimited trips). They also have a ton of incredible desserts so be sure to ask what the daily specials are.
But on top of everything, I want to take a minute to give a massive shout out to all the staff at Taste of Home-- the waitresses, the kitchen staff, and all the hostesses and other staff working so hard opening day. They had been swamped and yet everyone was smiling, pleasant, polite, helpful, and kind. I had multiple people check in on me to make sure I was taken care of, even when they weren't "assigned" to my table.
Everyone there is doing a stellar job. I know they were all tired, working hard, probably pretty exhausted, and haven't had a second to breathe BUT they handled it all like pros and I am SO impressed.
Phenomenal job, Taste of Home! Great food! Excellent service! And y'all will be oh so successful here in Luray. So so grateful y'all decided to open up and give the people what we've been wanting-- good quality home cooked food, insanely delicious desserts, BUFFETS!!!!, salad bars, long hours, good service, and good prices.

Had to stop by for breakfast yesterday morning and once again, they killed it!
The biscuits and sausage gravy were perfect-- ideal balance of biscuit, gravy, and sausage. AND the biscuits were literally perfect. (And I'm hard to please with biscuits đ )
Also tried the cheese omelet which was VERY cheesy, perfectly toasted thick pieces of wheat bread (so it's got that perfect toast crunch, but is still soft on the inside when you bite).
Tried the grits which were perfectly done. (They are just plain grits but you can always ask for cheese too if you are a cheesy grits fan.)
And the fried potatoes!!!! OMG. They were the best fried potatoes I've had in a LONG time. Literally cooked to perfection.
Breakfast is from 6-11 am. Plan ahead for their weekend breakfast buffets too! Saturday's is from 8-10 am; Sundays is a brunch buffet from 11-3.
Oh! And for coffee drinkers-- you get free coffee when you order a meal!
And if you're military, a police officer, or a first responder -- you always get 30% off your meal!
Taste of Home Downtown đđđ THANK YOU for gracing us with your delectable food, quality service, inviting atmosphere, and reasonable pricing. Y'all...
Read moreMy husband and I went out for dinner tonight, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences weâve ever had. After placing our order, it took 20 minutes just to get our drinksâand only after we had to ask our waitress for them.
I ordered the country-fried steak meal with pasta salad and a baked potato. After only a few bites, it was clear the steak wasnât fully cooked, the baked potato was overcooked, and the pasta salad was just plain awful.
Meanwhile, my husband waited over an hour and never received his meal. During that time, multiple tables that arrived after us had been served. When I finally asked our waitress to just box his food to go, it was beyond frustrating.
When he got home and opened it, we were shocked. His â8oz ribeyeâ was paper-thin, tough, and completely inedible. The coleslaw tasted like something was spoiled in it. After all that waiting, nothing was fit to eat.
What made this worse is that the restaurant wasnât even busy, so thereâs really no excuse for the poor service or quality.
Highly disappointed is an understatement. We wonât be back, and we definitely wouldnât recommend this...
Read moreVisiting from out of town and had read the mixed reviews but decided to try it out on a Sunday with only two other small families eating in the restaurant at the time. Has nice curb appeal! However, the experience didnât match up. Ordered loaded nachos as an appetizer that just never came out - either the waitress forgot to put the order in or the cooking staff forgot to make it, and neither remembered until after we had gotten our entrees and pointed it out to them. Went to the salad bar for a side salad only to realize the bar was out of lettuce. Asked for lettuce to be refilled at the bar and was met with some irritability about it by staff. Also ordered a burger that came with regular tortilla chips, which is either an odd combo or they ran out of potato chips and substituted them without saying anything. Food in general was just average: smash burger was decent but chicken sandwich was pretty bland. Service...
