Do you like being lied to? I know I don’t. I placed a curbside pick up order from the Crate & Barrel located on Cedar Rd in Lyndhurst the night before and the items were ready for pick up the next morning. I walked into the store to get my order because I wanted to make sure that firstly, the order was correct, that they had picked the right items, and that they were represented as being new items off the shelf or from the stockroom.
What I received was a large black crate and barrel fabric bag stuffed with the three throws I ordered, but only one of those throws was neatly folded and tied with the Crate & Barrel typical ribbon and additional Crate & Barrel tag. Additionally, that particular throw was in a previously sealed plastic wrapping bag indicating that this was a new item that was pulled from the stock room and not previously on the shelf for display or used as the part of a display.
The other two throws, one was tied with a crappy string, not folded at all, but literally just stuffed into the black bag.
And the third throw was also not folded, not tied with anything, and stuffed into a white trash bag!! Thanks a lot .. I spend hundreds of dollars and this is what you give me??
I then look at the (3) associates watching me look over my items, and I ask them 1) are these open stock floor sample throws? 2) I point to the only throw that is packaged nicely as it should be and say “they don’t come like this?”
And the associates deny it! They lie and say that throws come like that to them in a big box. Are you kidding me???
And still no one wants to admit that the other two are floor models used on displays. Which they very clearly are.
No, no, they arrive at Crate and Barrel all thrown into one big box and some are tied with a crappy string and others are put into a white trash bag … yeah right.
You all are very obviously lying and no one, not one single one of those associates was willing to speak any truth. Are you that desperate for your store to make a sale that you find it perfectly permissible to lie to your customer?! I guess so.
Let me inform you of what is truth .. If it’s a display item, it is always presented in a nice and neat fashion. I was in the store last Friday and I looked at the throws on display on the shelving units. Several are wrapped as they should be nice and neat and tied with a ribbon and an additional Crate & Barrel tag attached to them.
For you all to outrightly lie to me as a customer that has paid a pretty penny for these so-called quality items, you are a sorry excuse.
Further, I want to also mention that since 2 of the 3 throws did not have the proper Crate and Barrel price tags on them, I had to ask “where are the tags in case they have to be returned” and one associate proceeded to look for one on one of the throws — she shows me the “fabric” tag that is stitched to the throw, you know, the one that has cleaning instructions on it — well, that isn’t the tag that the item should have on it, it is not a price tag, regardless of wether or not the store can use the information on that tag in their system - I would really hate to return an item that I did not use, and not have a tag on it…. That would not make me look very good as a customer.
When I walked in the store, the 3 associates were just standing around because the store was not busy at all - so I really find it hard to believe that not one person in that store could have put in the minimal amount of time and effort required to make those throws look presentable or at least tell me there are no tags, and that they were on the displays in the store, and maybe just care a little about their customer and offer to order me ones that are packaged correctly per Crate and Barrel’s standards.
I can’t wait to see how someone is going to explain or excuse this awful experience …
Update went back to the store today to rectify this situation. Sheila, one of the store managers, waited on us and found two brand new correctly packaged throws to replace the ones I had been...
Read moreI made the major error of accepting a furniture delivery when all the parts were not delivered (this was an online order). My mistake…I thought shelf pegs would be easy enough to be sent to me or, at worst, I’d buy them myself. I spent $1500 on this piece plus $279 shipping. They were supposed to have contacted me about delivering the pegs but of course I had to call them. They talked me into getting $250 refunded if I just went and bought the pegs myself (which doesn’t even cover the shipping let alone the furniture I haven't been able to use for six weeks now since it was delivered). I thought they’d be easy enough to find. I soon discovered the pegs to fit the holes are not sold in stores!! I bought five different boxes of pegs which are now all opened and can’t be returned and none of them fit. I had to call them again and the rep was able to order the pegs and have them shipped. Unfortunately, only ONE PEG was sent for TWO SHELVES (aka 8 PEGS worth of shelves). I had to call AGAIN and have now been on hold for their so called Level 2 “support” for 55 minutes and counting because now I’m told they in fact DON’T have the pegs any longer. All of the reps I’ve spoken to in and of themselves are super nice and are trying to be helpful. Their fulfillment on the other hand is HORRIBLE. You are taking a huge risk of not getting what you want, or spending a ton of time trying to fix their mistake or wait for them to fix it. At the very least, do yourself a huge favor and don’t accept any furniture no matter how hard it was to get in your house and no matter how small the damage or missing part is and no matter how much you love the piece or how long you’ve been waiting for it. It’s not worth the pain to try and resolve after the fact. Also, you’re taking a real chance on anything on sale because apparently if it’s on sale there’s a good chance it’s discontinued and good luck if you have an issue. The sad part is I had my eye on this piece for probably two years and finally bought it and now it sits taking up space in my bedroom and I can’t use it. I expected so much more from Crate and Barrel. Not anymore. They’re just like the rest. Wayfair is better than them - and certainly Wayfair’s ability to solve problems (especially simple ones) is FAR better than...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars I would. Not only did they make us wait 6 months to deliver less than half of the furniture we ordered. But the delivery process was extremely unprofessional. We urged them not to come during the only 2 weeks when we were out of town, yet they came anyways and did not even listen to our attempts at negotiation. We had told them several times to change our phone number for them to call us, yet they didn’t. As a result, they kept on calling our nonfunctional phone number during delivery, and since we could not answer, they would leave for the day and not deliver our furniture. They would choose a day and time frame for the delivery BY THEMSELVES (without even consulting us to see if we could be available), and if we couldn’t be present during that time, they would refuse to reschedule. They would give us a time frame for the delivery and either come too early, or too late. They could not even respect the time frame that they forced us to agree with. They should understand that people have other obligations and that they can’t be available for them whenever they want. Again, it’s almost July, we ordered our furniture in January, and we don’t even have half of the...
