I came to Saint Paul’s Catholic Student Center seeking spiritual help during a deeply personal and frightening time. I reached out in good faith, hoping for guidance and support regarding issues involving religious deliverance and what I believed to be spiritual warfare and witchcraft.
Rather than being met with compassion, I was met with suspicion. Instead of helping or even hearing me out fully, the matter was reported as an “incident.” I wasn’t treated like someone in need of help — I was treated like a problem.
It’s incredibly disheartening to approach a religious institution with vulnerability, only to have that trust broken. For anyone seeking real spiritual assistance, especially for more complex or misunderstood issues, I urge you to be cautious. Read moreI really enjoy visiting this building. I have found it to be moderately inviting, although I am frequently asked if someone can help me. I don't get asked this generally anywhere else I go. They may have a stereotype of who should be there. I make the same mistake occasionally as well. It is basic human tribalism, nothing to get worked up about.
