Picked up my order at 7:45 and they didnāt close until 9. The initial associate was quick and pleasant and as I started walking to my car, opened my purchase to see an ivory dress vs. a black one. I came back to the associate and she couldnāt figure out how to process the return (which is obviously more than fine), but called someone else who quickly shared sheād only have 5 minutes to help her and remarked why she could have this scenario this time of day because she wanted to go home. (Realizing this 40 minute round trip errand was going to end in a fairly lengthy return vs me getting what I actually ordered prompted me to share that I too would like to go home.) She looked at the order on my phone and quickly shared Iād exceeded the return window and the pleasant associate informed her I picked up 2 minutes ago (before I could say I didnāt even receive my notification it arrived in-store more than a few days ago)! The situation evolved to more unpleasantness like telling me I needed to login to my Macys account vs showing her my order confirmation bc she wanted āto see what I orderedā when it was clearly on the screen. Even though I said I didnāt have a login, I attempted to try to appease her while she helped the woman behind me. After two attempts, I handed my phone back to her and said I definitely didnāt have a login. The entire time acting like Iām such an inconvenience and not pausing for a mini second to maybe express any bit of consideration for not only the inconvenience of me receiving the wrong item, but the wait in processing my return, not offering aid on getting the right item to me, or maybe her attitude. Iāve worked in retail for years and worked long hours with unpleasant humans and could still muster enough energy to hide those emotions and have some empathy for customers who have unpleasant experiences.
