We decided to buy a chair in this store, as it turned out it was the last one left available in the store. We paid for it and one worker started to pack it with the plastic wrap, quite narrow. It was difficult for him, since the chair is round and big. My husband started to help him and then the owner came to us and started yelling at the worker, and then he took him away with him. My husband continued to pack the chair, with my help. We were about to load it into the car and then the owner came running again and started yelling that we had packed it incorrectly, but it was clear that he didnāt like the amount of the wrap used, we asked him twice how much we should pay extra for the wrap, he yelled that he needs nothing and started yelling for us to leave. Here my daughter started crying, but he kept yelling at everyone, at us, at his employee. Then he went to make a refund without us asking to do so and continued yelling. From the moment I paid for the chair until the moment the money was returned, 14 minutes passed, the owner was yelling all this time. Despite the fact that my daughter was crying and he didnāt plan to stop. Many thanks to the employees, they were polite and correct. But the owner's behavior raises doubts about his ability to behave with people and his ability to control himself. I have the sales receipt and the return receipt. If you want to ruin your mood for the day, go to this store. P.S. In the end, we bought the chair in another store, only 30 dollars more. These 30 dollars are not worth my daughter's tears.
P.S Check the video from the cameras and you will see who was bullying whom. My daughter was crying, not your manager. If someone was bullying those who work for me, I would have called the police, why didn't you do this? The person who wrote the response also changed the story the way he wanted because the manager asked us to bring our car to the front AFTER the owner screamed at us and told that he will do a refund No policies were announced to us, except that the owner, as he introduced himself, shouted my store my rules. And I really regret that I did not read the reviews of customers and former employees of this store earlier. Based on the reviews we were not the only ones complaining about the way that the owner talks but for him the client is always incorrect The man who introduced himself as the owner did not explain anything except shouting. And he went berserk when the chair was already wrapped and they started wrapping the pillow, an overuse...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start this off by saying that I'm both a customer and ex-employee of this place. I'm the John W that people have written about in previous reviews. I've considered carefully whether I want to write this review and I can't bear the guilt of knowing what people face and not warning them.
Of the many reasons I chose to move on from here is how I've witnessed customers being treated here. I've always felt that when someone spends their hard-earned money with me that they're supporting me personally and putting food on my family's table. I owe them decency and gratitude.
The owner of this store doesn't agree with that sentiment. One glaring example of this was when I needed to listen to a story his assistant manager and stepson was telling about how a customer bought the most expensive sofa/loveseat combo in the store for $4k and how "hilarious" it was that there wasn't enough room in the customer's living room for it to recline. It was "entertaining" when they wouldn't allow a return on the merchandise.
I did my research and Famous Furniture Outlet is one of very few furniture stores around that don't have a return policy. Other stores even have price-match policies, so you can even get furniture for the same price down the street where you will receive better customer service, appreciation and better product warranties.
If you look at all the one star reviews here, I can tell you I've lived through a lot of those situations. I was the employee that one reviewer says was berated in front of him when he was completing a $2k sale. I was the only reason that customer chose to complete the sale.
Another thing to note is that if you have any issues with your sale and attempt to get a refund, the owner may simply choose to call the police on you and trespass you from the property. I've witnessed that repeatedly as well.
At the end of the day, it's simply better to work with a store that has a long-standing history with the community and has shown they respect and appreciate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased a 3-sectional couch from Famousfurnitureoutlet in Maplewood with a delivery cost of $89, which was supposed to include installation. However, upon their arrival, they refused to bring the couch inside, claiming the door was too narrow. What's more, they declined to refund the delivery fee, despite the installation being part of the cost. They also wouldn't leave the couch with us, asserting that only 2 of the sections would fit through the door due to the third one being larger.
In this frustrating situation, we were forced to contact the store, as per their request. To my disappointment, the manager was impolite and even accused me of jumping the gun, although the delivery personnel had advised me to make the call and provided me with the manager's number.
To cut a long story short, after visiting the store and discussing the issue with the owner, they did eventually redeliver the couch but charged an extra $40 which the store owner covered. Even when asked to assist in bringing in the two smaller sections, they declined, and the second delivery only involved dropping it off on the lawn. It's worth noting that I had already paid $89 for the initial delivery, where no installation took place. Despite the challenges, my two friends and I managed to get the 3-sectional couch inside.
Given this experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this store to anyone. Additionally, I suspect that the delivery manager and store owner may be one and the same. They never disclosed their names, but their voices sounded remarkably similar, and both exhibited a tendency to become easily frustrated...
