Maya Cuisine Taqueria — Restaurant in Maplewood

I’ve been coming to Maya Cuisine at Maplewood Mall for a long time and always loved their food—especially the steak tacos and how they used to make the birria tacos. Since I stopped eating beef, I’ve asked a couple times if they could make the birria tacos the same way but with chicken instead. Nothing complicated—just the same ingredients (cheese, onion, cilantro) but with chicken. In the past, it’s been done without issue.

However, during my recent visit on Wednesday, I had a very disappointing experience. The woman taking my order sighed, rolled her eyes, and acted visibly annoyed when I asked if they could substitute chicken. I asked if there was a problem, and she just said no, but kept making noises and giving attitude. She eventually called someone named Diego, but at that point, I had already decided I wasn’t comfortable having her prepare my food and canceled the order.

It was really upsetting because I go out of my way just to come to this location. I’ve always enjoyed the food, but I won’t continue to support a business where customers are treated with disrespect. There’s no reason to make someone feel like an inconvenience for asking a simple,...

This place makes authentic homemade delicious food. I'm shocked that I have to go to a mall to get real food it's amazing actually because it's such fast service and you get the best food you can imagine. I love tamales and they have the best tamales I think I've ever had. Also they have this corn with mayonnaise on it and I've never had it before but it was probably one of the most intense food items I've ever had in my life. I also have the guacamole and chips and the guacamole again probably the best guacamole I've ever had. This is probably one of my favorite new restaurants and it's not even technically a restaurant. If you're in Maplewood and you're hungry for something really good you have to come here. Also the prices are really reasonable considering how good...

Ordered fried plantains, they dumped in the fryer and while I was waiting I watched them make steak street tacos then take some meat out of them and put it back on the grill and save it. Then I was told the plantains were $4, I received $4 and change back from a $10. When I challenged the amount the person behind the counter said "Higher Taxes" over a dollar in taxes on $4?Seems wrong to me, how about you?
