Tonight my fiance and I went to our usual Olive Garden for dinner. The food has always been good as well as the service. Unfortunately, our meals were not as wonderful as expected. We both had the fettuccine alfredo as apart of our entrees, which neither of us enjoyed. It was very bland and tasted a bit like milk on noodles with no flavor. We explained this to our server Whitney, who was willing to offer us a specific desert, but when asked about a different dessert she tried to explain that it is a piece of cake as the other deserts were individual deserts by themselves. It was decided that the manager was to come over to talk with us. The manager Russ came over to the table, we explained the best we could about the blandness of the fettuccine and he told me and my fiance that he has not had any complaints about the fettuccine all night and it is the same batch they had been serving. In a way it seemed as if he was trying to make us feel guilty about not liking our food. He offered us new fettuccine, neither of us wanted a new plate because both us were pretty much done with our other portions. There was an awkward pause after we declined his offer, which then he said he "can just do 25% off but that's it." He did not apologize or introduce himself. Russ, was very stand offish as if we were an inconvenience to his night and took no effort, as it seemed, to make our experience more enjoyable. I have never had an encounter like this one with a restaurant manager. I do believe that the situation was not handled properly, especially by management. We will not be returning to this...
Read moreOver the years, I've seen a general degradation of Olive Garden. Formerly, a reliable and honestly luxurious destination for food. Proceeded to put itself on par with Applebee's and or TGI Fridays sans the alcohol availability. With the subpar programming of their order at the table kiosks, they took a further step down. Not sure if there is an expression for the opposite of "the icing on the cake", but this experience was it. I would hold a Perkins in higher regard than this particular O.G.
While their menu features a (G) on gluten free menu items, only one item bothered to include the mark and already had the words Gluten Free in the name of the dish. A small thing, for sure, but a generally lazy detail, and realistically one of many such a symptom or corporate sellout.
In spite of a nearly empty restaurant, service was unbearably slow, food took forever to be made, and the waiter almost brought someone else's food over to our table when we'd been waiting half an hour for our entrees. A pathetically two hour outing in total for some savagely overpriced food of mediocre previously frozen quality.
My associate ordered a steak medium rare only to have it brought out well done, seemingly a product of being left under the pass through for too long. Then, however, when he requested a replacement it came out blue. By then the rest of us had all finished eating and we're ready to leave.
This will have been my final outing to any Olive Garden location. An axiomatically tragic downfall of a once great culinary...
Read moreValentines day Massacrered!!!!! The best part of the night was the Wine. We arrived at 7:30, 20 min wait not a problem we were seated quickly. The hostess girls are pleasant. Our waitress seemed like she had somewhere to be. Basically rushed us out the door before we started. We had the ravioli cabonara both of us. Unfortunately because it should be called the grease bucket ... wait no grease plate. Either way we also ordered the never ending breadstick sauces. News for you it does end when the waitress only brings out breadsticks once. but Again the wine was good. The ending was as good as the soggy grease covered sad excuse for Italian food. I thought desert might save this disaster. I asked the waitress who now has cleared her entire section like there was a fire. Is there desert? and she responded .. (as reflected on her tip) do you want that cheesecake to go........... to go!.... to go!!!!... um I didn't realize I just paid $129 for fast food. It certainly tasted like fast food if I wanted to be disrespectful to McDonald's. Needless to say that's the last time we will visit the maplewood olive garden...maybe start by replacing the past her prime manager . Happy Valentines day 💗
The last picture is my wife heating up leftovers . I believe we got a half cup of grease. That's...
