Manager or whoever in charge is very petty. I tried to sell them some really nice items (very popular right now and each going for a lot of money due to popularity). They wanted to take almost all of it (because they were really good items) for around $29 total (around 10 items). The economy is awful right now and I can’t afford to let some of my best items go for that low right now, maybe another time. So I said (very politely) I’m sorry I can’t do that. They each gave me dirty looks and told me that they can only charge a sum of what they would charge. That’s fine, I just couldn’t do that price. I also don’t really think that’s true because one of the items I literally got from a plato’s closet for $50 because it goes for over $100 and it’s very popular lollll. I went back not too long after that and they probably recognized me so they didn’t take any of my items (all name brand, all popular). It looked like they didn’t even go through it and they had no reasoning as of why they couldn’t take anything. It was extremely awkward and they were all looking around at each other like they knew something I didn’t. I’ve also sold them some designer before and they only gave me $15. I’ve been really disappointed lately because they always take walmart clothes or shein from me and I get way more. Had to write this on a backup account (anonymous with a different name) because I just don’t know what these girls will do lol. They might try to say I’ve never sold to them, but it’s just under a different name.. They hold grudges here for no reason. Probably won’t go back there to sell for awhile due to this.. Very disappointed. Been selling here for years and always drove around 40 minutes out of the way just to sell here because it was great, and they always told me they loved the brands I bring in, but it has just gone...
Read moreThis place is sooo picky. I brought in Nike, Brandy, and Urban clothing most wore once or twice some were even never wore. Obviously if they weren’t in good condition I would just take them to a thrift, as they accept everything. They passed on all my clothes both times I brought stuff in.
However, I went to the one down in Burnsville and they bought about half of my items and took about an hour to look at my items (that one is good, staff is nice there as well).
If you have the chance go to any other Plato’s I recommend. Here they are very biased with what brands and items they want. It’s not worth your time plus at this location it takes 4+ hours to process your items.
The store owner also responds to every review, at least the ones with 1 stars. And she super appropriately thought to respond to a customer saying this “Our store is primary for teens and twenty-somethings. Brands like Loft and Clarks tend to be a little too mature for our store.” Good condition items or not, they will still be biased and bratty with what they want. This is age discrimination at its finest!! especially for a small secondhand business you think they wouldn’t be so picky and maybe they might get more customers wanting to buy and sell.
I have also added a picture of my items, just out of spite. The bottom left and right ones are urban outfitters and are sold like that. Not like I’m going there ever again, but just for some insight on why it’s a waste if your time. And if it’s so much of a “risk” to buy from customers maybe it shouldn’t be...
Read moreThis was both my first time visiting (any) Plato’s closet and selling some of my clothes here. Staff was informative of the start and end process when selling to the store. However, there’s a few small things that I disliked, was a bit confused on, and/or thought can be improved.
Firstly, although they take your phone number to put in their system during the selling process, you never receive any of their texts. (My sister also sold items here previously and the same thing happened to her as well.) Since I was just dining in next door anyway it wasn’t a big deal when I received no texts letting me know my order was finished. (I used the estimated time frame of 1.5 hour as told by the staff member after dropping off my items).
The second minor thing I was a bit confused on was knowing what items were sold. (It wasn’t until I got home where I was able to look at what remained.) I, of course was happy that I was able to sell some of my things. However, I wish I was able to get a receipt or asked if I’d like a copy. It was my first time going through this whole process and with customers waiting behind me, I didn’t want to wait and ask.
Overall, I had a pretty good experience with the store and this location. I would probably...
