Although the food was decent, the service was terrible and the food being brought out was extremely inconsistent. Our waitress had issues with even with the most minor orders. I understand that my group was big and sometimes, she might not have heard all of the orders, but it would have been greatly appreciated if she had just asked us to repeat our orders or slow down with speaking. But not once did she request us to do so. We assumed then that she had all of ur orders. Most of the food came out right away, but some orders were missing or came a LOT LATER than expected (as late as the second order of all-you-can-eat). I order the curry beef don; not only did I have to ask multiple times "When is it coming out?" but they gave me the wrong order (plain curry beef) which I politely addressed this to her. The waitress had the audacity to raise her voice and tell me "This is what you ordered." Immediately, I corrected her that I ordered the rice bowl, NOT just the plain curry beef. She proceeds to have a very short argument with me in front of my family but leaves when I told her that she did not get the order right and that I had already waited a long time for it. Her service was terrible and her attitude was short of being a b!tch. If it weren't for the gratuity included in our large group, she would've never seen a dime in tip from AND she would've gotten a direct complaint from me to her manager. Needless to say, I would never come back to your restaurant again if this dumb woman is still...
Read moreI'm still fairly new to sushi, but this place has jumped to the top of my short list of favorite places to go.
First, let's talk price. Lunch for two people plus a standard/generous tip was $50. Yes, this is expensive, but we went on a Saturday. Lunch prices are more reasonable if you go during the week. Sushi tends to be more expensive than other types of food anyway, so I don't feel like this was a bad deal by any means.
As far as the quality of the food goes, I'm not expert enough to know if the quality of the sushi here compares favorably to other places you'll find in the Twin Cities area. I will say that the food we had tasted fresh and delicious.
Overall, I think this place is comfortable at the 4 or 4.5 star range. I think the service could be improved a bit. Our first couple of rolls came out quickly after we ordered them, but the second round took substantially longer than I thought it should have. We weren't in a rush, so the timing worked out well. But the service was a step below great - still OK, I'm not complaining. But not great. That's really the only reason I'd give this place less than full marks.
If you like sushi, I highly recommend checking this place out. The all you can eat option seems like a pretty cost effective way to get some decent/good food at a...

Changing my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. Looks like Tokyo Sushi is starting to serve their sushi will less rice, much better than my last experience. The service was pretty good too. Only thing is I wish they had just let our guests who were running late also do the lunch, seemed a little pressured to do the dinner. But still, an overall much more positive experience!
Old Review:
Tend to go here when my wife and I are in the mood for sushi, but today's experience was disappointing.
Ordered 2 eel avocado rolls and basically 50% of the roll was densely packed rice.
They do this so that you get full on rice and not on fish, not to mention the avocado was basically 2x the size of the eel.
Ordered sushi only to find same, densely packed rice and thin pieces of fish.
The sashimi was worse the white and red tuna coming out in nickel sizes.
You can really see how they penny pinch their customers.
Waiters were nice as usual, so I tipped normally, but thought I'd share for others to know.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that it is normal for them to put a receipt paper of the order on the sushi, not the sushi plate, on top of your food sushi. That's not sanitary. You won't see it because they usually take it off before giving it to you, but today...
