I don’t know where to start … today was a very hard and stressful day , a friend told me about the organization and she told me I can donate clothes to help all the woman and kids that need a hand at a difficult time and their lives so today I took a 30 minute drive to the location in margate so I can donate 3 bags full of clothes in impeccable condition, I am not familiar with the area so I drove around trying to find a place to leave my donation, when I approached the door I saw a van with a gentleman that was taking items for the store , so I thought that the entrance .I walked inside and I saw a door open and an older gentleman that seemed to work there .. I said to him “ I’m sorry o think a got the wrong door , I don’t know where to go … to my surprise, this man completely went off on me. He raise his voice to tell me the door was in the back and not to do it again when I said to him, I don’t live in the area. He started screaming “ im just telling you !    Read moreWarning!! Although this store receives beautiful donated items that are intended to be sold, to help raise money to shelter victims of domestic abuse, the “volunteers” have first dibs at donated items and many of the donations never make it out to the sales floor. This is unfortunate, I have witnessed it multiple times, but do not know who to speak to. I tried to purchase a Murano glass looking item today and when I asked the volunteer at the counter, she said something like “I’m taking that”. So I went to the woman that seems to be the manager (an older woman with dark curly hair and glasses) she said “let me check” . She walked over and after speaking to the first woman that I had asked, she came back to me and said the item couldn’t be sold. I asked why not and she would not give me an answer. I’ve seen other volunteers putting things aside for themselves on several separate occasions . This is not fair to the shoppers nor is it fair to the Women in Distress...
Read moreI’ve been supporting WID resale store for several years by donating used items such as clothes, household items, books etc. I’ve also purchased a number of things in store altho I think some are overpriced. I always bring my donations at around 10:00 to back door and never had a problem. This week I again brought a lot of donations and when the door opened the male employee said we don’t take donations till 10:30. This was a surprise to me as no one else ever informed me. He then said” it’s always been the policy “ and pointed to new sign on door. We went back and forth and finally I apologized and said that I won’t bring donations again ever! Please WID please have the courtesy to post donation times on your website. Not fair to us to be chewed out when we keep you in business with our donations. Also please suggest to employees that it’s not good to preface donees with reprimands before even saying hello...
