Marshalls — Local services in Marple Township

Well...just had my own "Shopping While Black" situation at Marshall's yesterday that I found quite upsetting. I found a light fall jacket and brought it into the fitting room to try on. When I got there, I was told I could not try on the jacket in the fitting room and had to use the mirrors in the store to try it on. I thought that was kind of odd and said to the attendant incredulously, "Why not? It's CLOTHING! I want to try it on in private, not in the store, in front of everyone." She took the jacket from me and said she would hold it until I was done trying on my other things. A white girl and her mother overheard our conversation, and asked the lady,"Why can't she try it on? You just let US try jackets on." Needless to say, I was PISSED and reported this to the store manager. The manager apologized and confirmed that this was their policy. I told her,"That's fine, but then it needs to be consistent for all customers, not just me." She assured me she would handle it, but just in case she didn't,I shared my story on their FB page. Well... their Regional Manager just called me, and it turns out this is NOT their policy and never has been. The only items not allowed in the fitting room are jewelry or things from their houseware department. He apologized profusely, offered me a gift card for the jacket and said he would be at the store first thing tomorrow to speak to the managers and staff about their "made-up policy." Retail...

This is a great store with lots of things to choose from. It's a typical department store, with name brands at discount prices. Men and women, as well as children. For men, women and children. There are home goods and furnishings. There are swimsuits for the whole family. There is a variety of snacks, as well as gourmet coffees at discount prices. Prices. There's a section for not just pet food or treats, but Lisa's, harnesses, pet beds, there's an area for novelty gifts as well as general necessity electronics like cell phone chargers, etc. There is plenty of parking and it's very conveniently located on...

I came into the store to find a few items, including a new wallet and at least 1 new bra. I was able to find my ideal wallet; right number of compartments, place for cash, and coin purse. The issue was no tag with price was in the wallet. Mike, the store manager on duty, offered the ideal wallet for me at $9.99. I was thrilled to find the wallet and such a great price! I did also find a trio of bras instead of just 1 for $20. Overall, it was a great trip into Marshalls. I will be coming back to this...
