I was so pumped to come to this gym. It was the one thing I was most excited about doing this 2024, and I was left really disappointed.
This is my honest review of my experience here.
The gym itself is pretty cool. They have cryo machines, a massage therapist, a barber, subbed, saunas, a posing room, and much more.
I decided to sign up for training and coaching 4x a week with the goal of having them train both me and my best friend privately at my home (yes, I was fully invested). I was an extremely motivated client looking to make big changes to my lifestyle and I assumed Big Iron could help me achieve that.
I was wrong.
I remember meeting DJ for the first time in their Seattle location. I was pushed strongly on pricing and to sign up. It was suffocating. He gave me a mediocre training lesson. I had a really bad feeling about it all, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and messages DJ after my “session” to sign up. To my surprise, the price suddenly increased $200. I, again, felt very pressured to sign up for a 6 month contract with them. After lots of bargaining, we settled on doing a month-to-month one because I had a funky feeling about the gym (thank god I did). They quickly put my card on file and got me settled in.
In only two days, I had around $2,000 worth of unauthorized transactions made by this gym on my credit card. I was in shock. And this wasn’t only one transaction. There were multiple of them. I was quoted one price, but charged another. I felt so violated and scammed.
Yet, out of desperation to reach my New Year’s resolution, I decided to give them one last shot.
While I signed up with DJ to train both me (and later my best friend), he cancelled on me after a few sessions likely because his girlfriend had issues with training me. His girlfriend, Adrienne, FaceTimed me to discuss my “nutrition plan”, but kept questioning me on why DJ was my trainer in a very hostile and frustrated fashion. It put me in a very uncomfortable position because I was nothing but professional with all of the Big Iron staff.
After some convincing, Laura (one of the owner’s of the gym) was able to provide me with a refund. She tried to reconcile the situation but I honestly couldn’t bear anymore mistakes or uncomfortable interactions. I was relieved because I made a big financial investment in this (and planned on spending much more) and it didn’t feel fair to be charged.
I had really high hopes for this gym, but the unprofessional demeanor of a few of the trainers and $2000 worth of unauthorized transactions on my account left a really sour taste in my mouth. I hope they make some...
Read more2019 we were verbally notified by PA Fitness Arlington front desk that the Marysville and Arlington locations would be splitting Into PA Fitness and Hit Fitness. The person at the front desk did mention we would need to make a decision on which gym we would like to attend.
We let the front desk know at that time that we were actually moving away and would be attending a new gym there, so we would like to cancel. The front desk thanked us and said no further action was required. This was October 2019. PA Fitness sold our contract and billing information (even though it was cancelled) to Hit Fitness who continued charging us for 13 months of use without our knowledge or consent. The reason we didn't notice for so long is because we thought the payments coming out were from our new gym at our new location, who agreed to charge us the same amount as we were previously charged by PA Fitness.
January 2021 we finally realized we were still being charged. We found out Hit Fitness was charging us and we were able to cancel immediately. However, when we asked about refunds for the previous months of overpayment, not only were we told "no", but we were belittled and made to jump through hoops with no progress. Troy (an owner) blamed us for taking so long to notice, saying "if you bring this in front of a judge, they won't do anything because it took you so long to notice." Marcell (an owner) stated in a phone call that he would contact PA Fitness to help us come to a resolution. After a week of waiting for an update, I called again and Marcell yelled at me stating "this isn't our problem, talk to Troy. You can call all you want but I'm not doing anything about it".
I feel disrespected as a customer. My wife and I have spent 2 months trying to get a refund. PA Fitness didn't comply with customer notification laws required to transfer our contract, but Hit Fitness belittled and attacked me as a former customer and supportive member of the community. We paid $1,200 to a gym we never attended and never held a contract with. Customer service was worse than I could have imagined possible in coming to a resolution. Be aware of the emotional fragility of the owners when it comes to finances. Get everything in writing and watch your...
Read moreKlickWay Athletics in Marysville has been a great place to train, the owner Brian Klick, has done an incredible job of revamping the gym and breathing new life into an older facility after the last several owners. He has experience with owning other successful gyms in Washington and has been one of the top competitive coaches in the area for many years. Overall, I’m really impressed with the facility. Here’s how it stacks up:
Facilities & Equipment The gym is spacious and well laid out, there’s ample room for free weights, machines, functional training, and cardio work. The mix of classic strength gear and more advanced machines means there’s always something to challenge you, no matter your fitness level. Locker rooms and showers are clean and well maintained.
Coaching, Training & Community The personal trainers are knowledgeable, supportive, and clearly passionate about helping you reach goals. They don’t just hand you a spreadsheet but take time to assess your strengths, weaknesses, and form. Their nutrition coaching adds real value, making the fitness journey more holistic. The members here clearly take their training seriously but give a friendly atmosphere. There’s a good energy of people pushing each other without ego.
Plans & Flexibility Membership options and pricing are appealing, and your membership generally gives you access across their multiple locations (Everett, Renton, Seattle, Marysville). I also like that there’s often a free trial or introductory day pass to test out the facilities.
Things to Note • Because of how popular the gym is, peak times (early evening) can get busy. Depending on your preference this can be a great time to meet people and get some extra motivation or avoid if you like a quieter facility. • Some specialty classes (or times) can fill up fast, so booking in advance is wise.
Overall Vibe: If you’re looking for a serious, well-rounded gym with strong coaching, solid equipment, and great atmosphere, KlickWay Marysville is a great option. It’s especially good for people who value both structure (coaching, plans) and a great selection of equipment. It’s shows clearly the owner takes pride in his facilities and bringing a better fitness scene to western Washington....
