All the thrift stores in McCall a bit sad. However the saddest of all, that award would have to go to Toby’s Place. An orange and white cat crys at us as we got out of our car. We were warmly welcomed by an awkward teenaged “welcome to Toby’s place dude and dudette” or something to that effect. I tell them their cat seems to have escaped and neither seemed concerned. I’d best describe the two employees we interacted with as extras out of a Rob Zombie movie. The other younger of the two was placing with a ripped trash bag tied to a piece of string. Also, both these guys could’ve been in The Hills Have Eyes, and that’s being polite about it. If I were casting either a remake of the hills have eyes or a Robert Zombie movie they would be my first picks, without a doubt. We did find Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (seemed appropriate considering) on dvd and an extremely disturbing cold weather face mask the tag attached to claimed was from WWI. All in all I’d describe Toby place as a surreal step into a 3rd rate Rob Zombie movie set, but nothing’s entertaining and it’s just discarded trash more or less, but hey, isn’t that all stores? No, most thrift stores have items of some value. Lesser value than that of a business selling say shrimp and white wine. They can’t all be winners. Shrugs shoulder, yanks on string attached to ripped plastic bag and walks out...
Read moreI’m not sure how I feel about this thrift store. I spent a little over $51 so I was trying to make exact change and not use a larger bill. The cashier seen I had larger bills and kept saying I could “round up” and make a donation?? I wasn’t quite sure what she meant. I seen a large jar that looked as if it were for tips and I said I have extra coins I can leave but she again said I could round up to leave a donation. She wasn’t specific what the donation was for so I was reluctant even though I’m all for donating to those in need. All in all the store is just ok. I’ve seen better thrift stores in...
Read moreThey have a great variety of previously used items. I found something here that I could not find in any of the other retail shops in town. They have a great variety of items and an ever changing volume of stuff. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most of all, the thrift shop has great prices and the proceeds go to fund a greater vision of what Toby's Place...
