First time at this sushi restaurant, visiting from California. Stepped in and noticed that no one working there is Japanese. Thought it was strange to only see caucasions running a sushi restaurant. But ok whatever. We got 4 different sushi rolls from the happy hour menu for $8 each. They were the tiniest rolls EVER. They tasted just okay. The specialty rolls were around $18 each. We were debating if we should get get a specialty roll but we both went with a noodle bowl, mine with prawns and my husband with eel (but it was really catfish -- they need to call it for what it really is otherwise its deceptive). The prawns in my bowl were so skinny. Im used to big prawns at every japanese restaurant ive been to. Ok whatever. I couldnt wait to dig into the noodles. Wrong. The noodles were plain with nothing but some kind of mayonnaise on it. Seriously? No umami, soy sauce, miso, fish sauce, hoisen or rice wine vinegar flavor that you would normally expect in a noodle bowl at a Japanese restaurant to bring out asian flavors. Instead mayonaise! Yes you heard me. Mayonaise!! Who puts mayonaise in noodles? That is a serious crime. My husband tried his and yep. He said his was the same thing. Mayonaise! It was so disgusting we both couldnt eat it. We both just ate the few toppings (which wasnt much) and left the mayonaise noodles behind. What a waste of $18-$19 bucks for EACH bowl. No question this was the worst "Japanese" restaurant I have ever eaten at. Definitely not authentic. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET THE NOODLE BOWLS. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the sushi was average (not great or outstanding, but then again it was the happy hour version) and our waitress was nice and attentive. We didnt have the heart to tell her that the noodles sucked big time and that we never want to come back. Ever. Sorry but that is the truth. It might help if they hired a Japanese chef that knows what hes doing. Jus sayin...

The rice is good but the fish is kinda small pieces and the specials aren't that great. Needs a ton of local salmon instead of what every they get from the distributor. The tuna is block tuna not fresh from Oregon and Washington. If anyone upped the sushi game on them they would have to step up or bow out. They're calling the basic Atlantic Salmon King Salmon 🤦‍♂️ Despite midz game it's still pretty tasty sushi. I just feel it could be done a lot better. Happy hour doesn't really help on the bill either. Nothing fantastic on that menu deal wise. The local grocery store sushi is just as good. You can get Saba, Hamachi and Unagi here though. Just pretty basic.

So I made a MAJOR mistake when arriving to the restaurant, I didn't realize that reservations were needed but despite the confusion I was moved to a different seating arrangement and was treated to the best sushi I've ever had in Idaho after trying places from Idaho Falls to Boise. The service was awesome, the atmosphere was great and you get a beautiful view of the lake from pretty much anywhere in the dining area. I got the 8 piece nigiri and the miso soup and both were incredible and comparable to places I've been in OR and WA. Thank you again to the staff for being considerate of my blunder and treating me to a wonderful meal.

Bad service. Sushi rolls were rolled loosely. Their specialty roll tasted blah and did not taste any different than the regular rolls. It did not even look presentable or palatable as what you would expect from a decent sushi restaurant. Waiters did not know how to handle their clients courteously and efficiently especially during large crowds and when the weather was inclement. Our family came to visit McCall and this is the only restaurant that made our experience horrible. The waiters kept telling us that there restaurant is a first come first serve basis, but when we arrived, there were clearly two tables available, one waiter told us to sit down and take the table that was empty, then as soon as we sat down, another waiter told us, that is was already reserved. Same waiter told us that we were welcome to find tables on their balcony, so we did. We placed our orders, as we waited for our orders, rain started pouring and our table did not have any shade or cover at all. My husband asked our waiter Chris, if he was going to find or accommodate another table for us so when our dinner came we could eat without getting soaked. Our waiter said he has good news and bad news. "The good news is, there is none, the bad news is, that the weather is only going to get worse," and that there are no other tables available for us. Meanwhile as we listen to our waiter, we watched two other separate customers being seated on two tables that had just been vacated, as we stood there in the rain and then that was it, our waiter left again. So I asked another waiter, I thought this was "first come first serve?" and she replied with "we try to do our best to seat our clients, but sorry we couldn't find you a table," and she left us. At this point we were getting really soaked and wondered what we were going to do since they had already taken our order. Frustrated my husband, finally called our waiter and asked him what he can do about our situation, and our waiter flared up I already told you, " we do not have a table for you.' My husband asked him, how two new customers that just walked in, get a table away from the rain and he couldn't have sat us better, especially since we have already ordered and we were getting soaked. Our waiter screamed at my husband and said, "are you arguing with me?" "My husband finally told him to place our order to go and to give us our check. All this time, we were wet, cold and hungry and just wanted out...

My 7 friends and I dined here last Saturday for our friend’s bachelorette/wellness weekend. We had a reservation for 7pm and arrived on time. When we arrived we were told the table ahead of us wasn’t quite done yet. We checked back 20 minutes later and they informed us that the table had been done dining for a while and had closed out but they were just talking and told us to wait. On a busy Saturday summer night- I feel they should have politely told that table they had other reservations after them once they closed out. We had a diabetic in our party so a few minutes later we went back up to see if we could possibly order her something to eat since they weren’t going to move the table along. They gave us a menu and said they could serve us when we were sat and it shouldn’t be longer than 10 minutes. Ten minutes later (35 minutes after our reservation) we walked up and were yelled at in front of everyone dining by a clearly irate manager “You guys can’t be here. Get out of here- I said we will call you when we are ready” at this point it’s past our reservation and you’ve just talked to us like we are children. We go downstairs and contemplate just leaving- but our diabetic friend isn’t looking so good so we agreed that if we weren’t sat in 5 minutes we’d leave. We were luckily brought up within the 5 minutes, and the evening went seemingly well. Our food was good. A few of us had a few beers, but many in our party were sober. One of our friends who doesn’t drink handled the bill and we were on our way. This is where it gets super unprofessional- the manager called later that night saying we still owed $200 on the bill. Which my friend did pay. However. After looking at the itemized receipt we realized that we did not in fact owe them $200 more. In an attempt to rectify this we reached out to the manager and he simply said we must have been too drunk to notice and we can email the owner but he won’t believe us either.

What a bummer that the food, view, and our server were great but the eight of us will likely never return because of the manager and his unprofessionalism. I feel like he heard bachelorette and stereotyped us as drunk woo girls, when we were all pretty sober and just there to have a nice adult dinner and...
