I'm a frequent diner at restaurants in the area, and Steamers Steak & Seafood has become one of my go-to spots. I recently had another excellent meal there that deserves a rave review. We walked in without reservations on a weeknight (Mountaineers Hockey Game) and were promptly seated by the very friendly hostess. The restaurant has a great location on E Lake Street with plenty of parking options so it's quite convenient. Inside, the dining room has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Our server was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the evening. Despite the crowd, the food came out fast. We started with the Soup of the Day that was NE Clam Chowder - delicious and we have spent a lot of time in Maine. The main dishes were the Bison Filet, cooked to a perfect medium rare w/ mashed potatoes. The bison was so flavorful and tender. Our friend ordered the Idaho Trout, which was light and delicately seasoned, while my wife had the Scallops. The scallops were absolute perfection - large, sweet and seared beautifully. Everything we ordered was clearly made with care and high quality, fresh ingredients. Even the side dishes shone. Throughout the busy dinner service, the staff remained fast, friendly, and attentive. I highly recommend Steamers for the total package: friendly service, speedy kitchen, cozy atmosphere and - most importantly - outstanding food. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Overall, the restaurant is nice, but the food needs improving. I had a late dinner there, and ordered the Ribeye steak with wild rice and veggies. For starters I went with the Manhattan Clam Chowder. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was good, well flavored, but I didn't find a single clam in it. The Ribeye steak was medium to medium-well, when I specifically asked for Medium-Rare. Their luck was that the meat is good quality, so it was quite juicy, and I ate almost all of it. And, it was well seasoned. The server (I don't recall her name, but I believe she is from the Philippines) did ask me how it was, and I did show her that it was overcooked, so she apologized. Nothing more. And I don't think she let the manager know. The veggies were 90% carrots, which I really don't care for. And, they were seriously under seasoned. The wild rice would have been good if there were any spices, salt and pepper involved. Unfortunately, adding them myself did little good. These need to be added when cooking the rice. Bland food does not taste good. So, unfortunately, the food was sub-par. I will, most likely, try them again, but paying almost $50 for a single's dinner as bland and not well executed, as I had, is not promising...

I really wanted to like this place. I had heard great things about it and the menu looked fantastic, but overall this place was really disappointing. Service was so-so. Our server was friendly enough but we were parched our entire meal despite asking a few times for drink refills. Atmosphere was okay. It’s rustic, a bit outdated, and was very drafty. We were expecting something a little better kept up for the prices they were charging. We ordered clam chowder, lemon caper chicken, and the trout and rack of lamb plate. Chowder was fine, neither tasty or terrible. Lemon caper chicken was rather one-note in flavor but also fine. My plate was the trout and lamb, and I have to say, the tastiest thing on the plate was the mashed potatoes. The trout was unremarkable, and the lamb was overcooked and tough. Overall it wasn’t the worst meal in the world but it was aggressively mediocre and overpriced for the quality. I’m really disappointed because I had such high hopes for this place.

We went there 45 mins after opening on Wednesday 7/26/23. Just before opening I called about reservations. I asked the lady if we just show up in the next hour will there be a problem with us getting a table. She said it shouldn't be a problem. We arrived just about 5:45pm. It took about 5 mins, but then we were seated. There was one lady, we suspected was the "hostess," kept counting people and acting all confused. After about 10 minutes of us sitting there the waitress "Sarah" came and took our order, very nice, friendly. The place wasn't very busy, maybe 6 tables of customers. About 35mins later, my salad, my wife's cup of soup, and bread came from another waitress (whom we never saw again.) Sarah walked by me headed for the kitchen and I stopped her briefly, and said I'm sorry but I forgot to order coffee, she said no problem and whisked away. I think they had to make coffee, but I received mine about the time it finished brewing, which I was ok with that. We finished our salads and shortly afterwards the "hostess" asked if she could take those (our plates) I said "yes" and she grab the plates and bread and started to take off, I said "Hey! we're not done with the bread" and she said "oh I thought you were leaving" Really!! Wow! Our food finely came, I ordered the Cancun Rib Eye, med rare. It was not very pink in the middle. By other reviews it seems the cook doesn't know what rare, med rare, well done, are. I asked for a baked potato, they didn't have any. WHAT! The middle of eating our main course, a reservation of six came in, the staff was all over them talking, checking on them, 10mins after they sat down THEY had THEIR salads. I finally got my second cup of coffee after about 10mins. And the hostess walked by and almost knocked the empty cup off the table. I sat it right on the outside edge of our table with the handle out, CLUE. We noticed a couple that were there before us, as we were leaving, a waitress was taking their order. Also at about 6:15 the hostess turned away a younger couple, there were plenty of tables. Well if they were on their game they (the business) would have been ok. Food ok, had good flavors. Staff needs work to be more attentive, cooks need more training. I WAS going to tip Sarah very nicely, but that didn't happen. Guess the staff thought we were lower class. Emphasis on the word thought. No wonder us simi locals call it...

We tried to dine on Saturday 11/11 and we arrived at 6:10 and were seated and the hostess notified us that the restroom was out order and we could either use the gas station next door or the porta potty out back. We ordered our drinks and spinach dip that came timely, and then ordered our entrees. We got our spinach dip and then waited for our soup and salads. After 50 minutes we hadn’t received them and asked and our server came out with them and noted that the French onion typically takes longer, even though tables all around us had arrived far later had either received their French onion soup or in the case of two tables near us, eaten their whole entrees. After another 25 minutes of waiting for our food and watching people all around us get their food a member of our party went back and requested to cancel our food, at which our server Jennifer noted that the kitchen was still cooking our food. She was not apologetic or kind about it, which was frustrating. Then we asked to box our food, which she responded they were still cooking it. We ended up leaving money for the drinks and food we have received and left at 7:35. On the way out we attempted to notify the manager and there was no hostess or anyone available. Overall it was an incredibly disappointing experience. As someone who currently works in service, I am the first to give a little grace to someone who is communicative, however, when it is clear there is a problem and no one takes responsibility, it is incredibly frustrating. I hope management resolves this problem and would be more than willing to speak to someone about...

My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary. We settled on this place because of its ratings, but I honestly dont understand why this place has better ratings than Salmon River. The service was not good, I've had worse. But it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to realize we were waiting to be seated. We walked to our table, and there was a rather large party, and one person even said "the only thing saving this meal is the mashed potatoes." Little did I know was that he was correct. We had the scallops to start, and they were just awful, baked in butter and topped with some kind of parmesan. The scallops just had no flavor or imagination. Then we had the Manhattan clam chowder, I've had better canned. We got our plates, my husband had the salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables and I had the lamb and trout with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Right away his salmon just did not look like the right color, my lamb was way overdone, and the trout looked so unappetizing. The smell from whatever juice that everything on my plate was swimming in was so pungent, I lost my appetite on the spot. The vegetables just looked like they had been reheated. I didnt want to complain but I also didnt want to suffer through eating it either. I went outside to get some fresh air while my husband explained and offered to pay for the meal, they comped our entrees and we only ended up paying for the scallops and our drinks. The staff was nice about the situation, but I would not go back. We ended up getting pizza from...
