Trudy's Hallmark Shop — Local services in McKinney

Please do not patronize this store Your time and money are not appreciated. Here is my account of the last interaction I had at this location.

I am writing this to tell about my experience at your McKinney Hallmark location this evening. It is a tradition that we let the kids pick out an ornament of their choosing for our Christmas tree. My son is 18 and my daughter is 13. We choose the Hallmark store for the fun and new movie themed ornaments; and to pick out two cards for my husbands’ birthday. When we entered the store, we were not greeted, not a huge deal but a little off putting since we were the only customers in the store around 7:30 in the evening. There were two of your store’s employees, very much enjoying their in-depth conversation on their co-dependent family members that they did not seem to want to be interrupted. How do you I know this?... well because I tried to ask them where the first Christmas ornaments were and I was unable to get an answer. Once all the ornaments had been found I walked behind your cash wrap to look at the novelty items for Christmas gifts, this is where I was acknowledged with a quip “Are you done yet?” I was taken aback, first that she spoke to me and then her tone. Once I understood what she was saying. I replied, “no not…yet”. As I made no gesture of going to check out. She then told me I could unburden my load at the cash wrap. Once I began looking, another person entered into the store and was promptly greeted with a “Welcome to Hallmark” ---- ahhhh, so you do greet. Just not me. Got it. Moving on, my son kept looking at novelty items and then I proceeded to check out. Another unpleasant process, I repeated my phone number four times and my name twice. Once I had completed my transaction, I told my son to wait in the car. Once he left, I advised your two employees that this was the worst experience I have ever had at a Hallmark store. Your employees retort – “I am sorry” (with a not sorry tone) “I thought I greeted you”. Well you didn’t – not only were we not greeted you did not speak to me or my family the entire visit. I also advised her that I am not sure why she would not greet me but the fact that I spent almost $100 on novelty items in your store should earn at least a little customer service. All that to say is that, I realize that she did not see an issue as to how she treated me today. The simple fact that I took the time to tell her that her customer service is lacking should have taken one moment of self-reflection to say to herself, you know what, I did not mean to come off that way. Instead she had a terrible attitude. If my kids had not spent so much time picking out their ornaments they would have stayed there at that store with here. Trudy's is SUCH a fun store to visit. If I had time, I could spend an hour in here looking at all the treasures. They have recently rearranged the store to more prevalently display the gifts and holiday items. My son fell in love with a cute Elf button-up shirt. I was glad to have the coupon they sent me for a better deal on it. I love the candy selection as well as tumblers and travel mugs. This is where I usually buy my Corksicle products. My kids tend to browse the Squishmallows, gag gifts, dad gifts, and fun unique toys/decor/ornaments.

I gave the store 4 stars because I specifically went in for birthday cards for my brother, dad, and son. After all, it is a Hallmark store. The Christmas card section was plump, but unfortunately, the birthday card selection was wanton. We ended up picking 4 cards but having to go elsewhere for 2 more. It made me sad because I'd rather give them my business than a bigger chain. I know managing inventory selection is hard for small businesses, and I love shopping here. I really hope they beef up their card birthday card...

Disappointed in my visit today. Went and got a card for my daughter today. With it being Memorial Day Weekend and going into summer and July 4th I was looking for USA and / or red white and blue items. None to be found. I asked the lady at checkout for USA items etc. and she said they did not have any and would not get anything for July 4th either. WOW.. You all carry product for every holiday except USA Holidays. Very Disappointed.. I'll have to rethink what you all stand for and...
