This is a review for the Guitar Center in Medford, OREGON (2570 Crater Lake HWY).
I recently visited this store and was greeted by Operations Manager, Austin Schindler. Immediately, he provided me with top-notch service. Austin, had a friendly disposition and a professional look. He was low-pressure and had the natural inclination to provide real help, not just “get the sale” help. He had answers to all of my questions about different amps and PA systems. Karly was also behind the up-front sales desk and provided a warm welcome, which is so refreshing for a Guitar Center.
I had several needs.
A bass- set-up, bass strings, bass-amp head, and bass speaker, and maybe some PA speakers. Austin helped me find a number of options for the PA speakers as well as some suggestions for new pedals and bass heads they had in stock. They have a Great selection of stock.
Then, Austin walked me over to the guitar technician, Nick. Nick is a working musician who’s specialty is bass! Austin said Nick is very highly skilled and assured me I would be in good hands. WOW! He was right! Nick was hands-on, and immediately looked at my bass, made some suggestions for some strings and bridge settings. His extensive knowledge about the bass pick-ups I was using and bass amps and cabinets that were in the store, and which ones would sound good with those pick-ups. Anyways, I left the bass for the deluxe set-up that Nick suggested.
My Sire/Marcus Miller bass was ready just 2 days later and was only 90 bucks! When I went to pick it up, It felt Amazing in my hands, and could tell the action was set up perfectly! Then plugged it in... WHAT AN AMAZING SOUND!!

Austin had remembered I was looking for a bass amp and cabinet, and let me know that there was a sale, and that the Bass cab I was looking at was part of the sale that week. It was a Markbass 102 PURE 2X10 Bass CAB. Nick the technician had directed me towards some Markbass units the first time, and swore by the Markbass brand, as the most superior quality and tone. I bought it on the spot because of Nick’s recommendation and the killer deal Austin gave me. What a Cab. The thing sounds So Sweet! And with the new strings and set-up by Nick, WOW!
Nick really does have a special touch and really worked some magic putting my bass back together. I couldn’t be happier with the playability and the tone with the Sire and the Markbass Cab together.

Read moreI spent hours online determining which used instruments to order for pick up at the Medford store. The instruments were located at Guitar Centers all over the country. I had to call 2 weeks after placing my order to find out that I was not going to receive 3 of the 5 instruments I intended to buy. I did not receive an email or a call to notify me of this. 3 out of 5 aren't great odds. I have never had a problem like this on E-bay when ordering used instruments. Take heed. What you see may not really be there. UPDATE: I picked up my instruments at the Medford store. Both had not been re-stringed (as promised) but the guy (I didn't get his name) at the store gave me free strings for both so I could do it myself at no additional cost. Both instruments were dirty and dusty with rusty strings. Clearly, their online used instrument program needs improvement. The service I received at the store was excellent. Read moreYou could really get lost with how many neat things they have in the store, if you're a music lover def check this place out. I liked that just about everywhere I looked there was an employee ready to help and would ask if I needed help. The store is clean and organized. the only reason I gave four stars was the ordering and picking up at the store, curbside pickup. I had ordered an amp and the app said it was ready so I go check-in, I am parked outside and waited and waited and waited. The signed for curbside pickup wasnt there so I parked on the side and noted what vehicle I was in. Finally 30 minutes passed and I called asking what was the delay. According to the rep, the app isn't connecting to their system so there was no alert sent. He was going to check on it but I would say to just call in to make sure they know about the curbside pickup, they might not offer it at some point. Other than that hiccup, Guitar Center...
