Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Medford

This store has a problem with pricing. I have ran into pricing issues with this location several times. Today I was buying our new cat a cat stand with a perch and scratch pad. Normally priced at $29.99 that price is lower then most we saw on Amazon so that is a very reasonable price. However right below on the rack was a big yellow price tag that showed this discounted to $19.99 making this a great buy. As we completed our shopping and went to pay I confirmed that the cat item rang in at the correct price and yet again it did not. The young man was happy to go and check and confirm the discount and corrected the pricing. The problem is that if I weren't paying attention I would have been over charged this has happened 4 or 5 other times and one of the times the clerk who was an older woman got extremely nasty with me and said that she would not honor the price and that she would not get a manager. Long story short I did get the item at the marked down price. She was angry as the sale was over the day before and she herself wanted the same product at the sale price and was unable to purchase it as advertised. They had not taken the price tag down and on the handwritten tag there was no end date. I explained to her that she also should get the discounted price and said it in passing to the manager that she should also receive the product as advertised. Funny enough was the manager said i was correct she should. I don't know if they did it for her but she was so angry that she basically took her frustration out on the customer ( ME ) Again today the young man was very accommodating in getting the price corrected. I will continue to shop there for these little odds and ends that are less expensive then shopping at the Christmas Tree Store but more expensive then a...

I will never again shop at this location. The front end supervisor has an extremely rude attitude.

I was originally in line 5, with 2 people ahead of me, to pay and I was told to come over to line 3 and it was card only. I was relieved at first because my two year old son was trying to jump out of the cart. After I put all of my items on the counter I was informed that the woman who was going to ring me up didn't have a number so she couldn't. I was then instructed to proceeded to line 1, where I was now behind more people (who were mostly employees) than I originally was. I waited and the employee who had told me to get out of my original line pulled my cart up to the counter and put my items up telling the front end supervisor to check me out and that I had been waiting too long. The front end supervisor, with an attitude, and without asking any questions about the situation said so has everyone else that I needed to wait. When the woman told her they pulled me out of line and I would have already been done, she made a face and did start to ring up my items. After a moment I told her never mind, I don't want any of it. She said she was literally ringing me up now, so I told her I don't appreciate her attitude and I'm good.

I'm not interested in spending my money at a store who thinks giving a customer an attitude after inconveniencing them...

This place is great for foodies and gluten free/health food oriented households. You can get Bob's Red Mill products and gluten free foods less than Whole Foods. Many of the snacks are health food or imported. They have a nice selection of British teas. This place has beer/wine section and a candy and nuts section as well. They used to have a great selection of pasta sauces and I am guessing their vendors changed or the purchasing manager changed because I can no longer get Bon Jovi's father's sauce line or Paul Sorvino's sauce line each equally good. They also carried gluten free pasta but I haven't seen it. I would give 5 stars if they had refrigerated items and more locations/one close to East Boston/Revere. Their household items are okay as well as clothing but I think it varies with location. I found some items that I liked at their Quincy/Wollaston location that I was unable to find in Medford. For those who own cars they can benefit more from this store in terms of home goods and garden and yard supplies. They don't offer delivery otherwise I would buy furniture and other items to heavy to carry or cumbersome to take on the 134,108, or 100 bus to Wellington Station.
