RV Times is currently running a cutest pet contest where the highest bidder gets featured in a calendar. Supposedly part a fundraiser (“a portion will go to SO Humane”). That’s fine, is what it is. Myself and other friends have voted for my GFs dog. Paid a decent chunk of money to buy votes in order to make it to the next round. None of that money got counted towards the vote total (but they have the money). Emailed 6 days asking if maybe I did something wrong, nothing back. Dog was gonna be out of the running so out a few more dollars in on Saturday…no vote changes. Chatted through their website and was told they’d get it taken care of. Nothing. Found out last night a friend gave them $80 without any of the votes getting counted. Someone else put some money in and no changes in the vote. Called this morning twice about these multiple issues and was guaranteed both times they’d get it resolved and call me back. Crickets. They essentially scammed me and my friends out of $100 bucks and aren’t answering any questions. Cannot trust a news company that allows these shenanigans to occur within their...
Read moreThank goodness for the Rogue Valley Times. After the abrupt shuttering of the Mail Tribune, I thought we would become yet another news desert. No local news means that horrible people, corrupt businesses and even government agencies will manage to skirt being held accountable by the hardworking citizens of the Rogue Valley because the awful things don’t get reported to the public. They do that stuff on the sly and behind closed doors. It takes solid journalism to bring it to light. The TV news stations’ 3 min “reports” don’t quite do it for me. I’m relieved to have a paper that reports “the good, the bad and the ugly.” It’s a shame that more people don’t support their local paper because there’s a reason why some news is free. Free news isn’t accurate or comprehensive news. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” Bravo Rogue Valley Times for fighting the good fight and staying relevant in the age where real news...
Read moreIt's a relief there's still some reporting being done here in Southern Oregon which benefits everyone to make informed decisions about so many things from knowing where politicians stand on issues to how robust our business community is in the Rogue Valley and who may perhaps need a lift up when it's deserved. The people who do the deed(s) aren't being paid fairly either, so do know their wages are stagnant or worse perhaps similar to you. We're almost one of those 'news deserts' happening and it's unconscionable to contemplate being without the Rogue Valley Times and local news coverage. Thank you RVT for all you do with the skeleton crew putting...
