I have recently had a vacation in Oregon and was passing through Medford on my way to crater lake. Surprised to see an Indian restaurant in this town and that too with pretty good reviews. Excited about the dinner and I have ringed them to order Paneer pakora and butter chicken. It was almost closing time when I picked up the order and I rushed to open the paneer pakora to binge on. It was delicious. I thought I hit the jackpot and eagerly went back to my hotel room to eat the butter chicken. I couldnt put in words how I felt after taking a mouthful. The chicken was RAW. It was absolutely raw to the extent that its inedible. I thought it could be just one piece that was not cooked and I took another mouthful cautiously. Nope. Raw to the core again and smelly too. I called the restaurant to atleast leave a voicemail as its past their closing time but the voice mail was not set up. I waited until the next day to call them and clearly mentioned the problem. The front desk lady put me on hold for a bit and said she could remake the dish for us. I told them I am a tourist and wont be visiting medford in my itinerary again and asked for a refund. She told me to call back so that she would meanwhile communicate this with the owner and give me an answer. I patiently waited until next day and called them. I got the response stating that the owner doesn't want to issue a refund and there's nothing he could do but to just remake the dish for us which was clearly not an option. They were reluctant to even consider that the mistake is at their end and din't bother to even acknowledge any damage control measures they are willing to take. I being a breastfeeding mom, am extremely careful about eating meat as any under cooked meat could pose a threat to my baby in turn. This was a disastrous experience. I urge the restaurant to check the quality of the food they are serving and please be considerate...
Read moreDelicious, flavorful, creamy curries! My favorite so far is the wonderful Navratan Korma. We'll have to try them all eventually. The pakora appetizers were crisp and fresh. The waiter is very warm and friendly, and offered us more chai. We are very happy to have a truly great Indian restaurant right here in downtown Medford now! We look forward to coming back again for the lunch buffet next time. Adding to my review; so on our second visit today, we went for the lunch buffet, and wow! So many different kinds of curries to choose from, both meat and vegetarian options, each curry very unique in flavor. I tried all of them, and was so full I had to skip dinner later. They also have the most wonderful tender samosas. There was Tandoori chicken but I ran out of room, will have to try next time. And you can self-serve yourself from the chai carafe. I was a little surprised to see no naan bread, until I returned to the table and we were served an entire fresh-baked basket of fluffy naan! Lovely dipping sauces, four different kinds, and delightful pickled vegetables. And to top it off, the best spiced gulab jamun and Indian rice pudding I have ever tasted. This is now our favorite Indian restaurant around here; and consider it as good as the best Indian restaurants in Seattle. I just can't go too often or I will gain too...
Read moreI originally had a five star review for RTIM - this was when Kumar was the owner. Management has changed and so has the quality of food and service. I’ve eaten Indian Food all over the world and the US, my recent experience at RTIM would have to be considered one of the worst. I’m pretty simple when it comes to Indian food - chicken tikka masala and saag aloo. Both dishes were watery vs creamy and lacking flavor. The chicken tikka masala did have flavor, one flavor and that was cardamom - overpoweringly flavored with that one single note. What I love about Indian food is the symphony of flavors where you can taste a multitude of various spices that create a subtle yet profound taste experience. That didn’t happen… The saag aloo tasted like watery spinach - no flavor. Very disappointing. For me a minor issue if there’s great food - but the slow, inattentive service was just insult to injury. Also, my kids love Indian food, typically they each polish off their own serving - this time no one did. We took home leftovers that ended up in the garbage. Reading through other reviews it sounds like people have had positive experiences with the new management. Maybe I got unlucky - but, I know I will not be going back. It looks like the best Indian food in Southern Oregon is now in Klamath Falls....
