Gems Etc — Local services in Medina Township

I don't often write reviews, but my experience here was so terrible that I felt compelled to do so. I will start with the positives, which are that the prices were fair and the work was good.

Now on to the negatives: I brought my watch in for a repair around Christmas 2022. It took a month for me to get a quote, which I had to call the store to get instead of them calling me. I agreed to the price and authorized the work. They then called me again another month later with another quote, at a higher price, in addition to telling me that the work still hadn't been started. Regardless, I again agreed to the price and authorized the work.

I called back some time later and asked Sam (the owner) for an update on the watch, and told him that if the work still hadn't been started, that I was respectfully going to decline the services and take my watch somewhere else. He then proceeded to yell and swear at me, and call me names, because he thought I was trying to rush him. He also hung up on me 4 separate times, when all I wanted was an update on the watch's ETA/to know if the work on it had been started yet.

He eventually called back a few minutes after hanging up on me for the last time, telling me that the watch was actually done and ready to be picked up, and that he initially missed that on the repair sheet (meaning this all could've been avoided). When I went in to pick it up, he apologized for his behavior and explained that these things take time and he just didn't want to be rushed, and I responded by saying that while I understand that, it doesn't make it okay for him to yell and swear at me, and that I wouldn't be coming back. He then started yelling and swearing at me again, and even threatened to fight me, all with other customers in the store.

Of course, I simply couldn't allow someone to speak to me like that. I was very respectful towards Sam up until he began treating me the way that he did. He was incredibly unprofessional, immature, rude, and disrespectful. The general communication throughout the entire process was also very lackluster, to boot.

Needless to say, I won't be coming back here ever again. I see some others had much better experiences, and I definitely envy them. Nonetheless, if Sam treated me this way, it's a guarantee that he has treated, and will continue to treat, others this way as well. You're better off going...

I have used them several times. Once to resize my moms ring and then to get my watch batteries replaced. They have always been very nice. It’s been a couple of years since I needed their service. She is in an assisted living facility and she really needed to have the ring cut off because of it hurting. Excellent customer service & jewelry repair! I recently had 2 rings sized and refurbished. They were my Dad's and very sentimental to my Family since his passing. This was my 1st experience with this shop, but it won't be the last! They did an outstanding job on these 60 year old rings and in a very timely manner!
