We recently had flooring installed through home depot. We originally were measured for upper level ( about 700 sq ft) of carpeting and about 150 sq ft of vinyl plank flooring for our master bath. When I received the quote via Home Depot Headquarters I about keeled over and died when they told me it would cost $8,000 for a little over 800 sq ft of flooring. We immediately when back to the store and spoke with Sean our flooring rep who communicated with HQ about the price. We were quoted for all plank flooring, not carpet and plank, because apparently they cannot quote you for 2 separate types of flooring right away, it has to be adjusted after the measure, which is a little odd, but we didn't really mind because the price came down significantly once it was adjusted. BUT if I didn't know any better I could have easily accepted that quote on the spot when the HQ rep called me about it. SO BUYER BEWARE ON THAT FRONT! At this point, our price was adjusted properly so we took a few days to think about it, and decided to move forward. I tried calling the flooring department to schedule our service 4 times on a Wednesday morning at about 10 am (the store cannot be that busy) and I was on hold forever and my call was never answered. I noticed in my email that there was a number for HQ that I could call to schedule service. Sean followed up and let us know that the service was scheduled and that Superior Flooring would be calling to set up a day and time for install. Superior did follow up promptly and service was scheduled. Per the conversation I had with the Superior the carpet and vinyl plank flooring would be installed on the same day, since the flooring being put in were in opposite areas of house. I received an invoice that stated both types of flooring would be installed. Saturday (2 days before the install takes place) I receive a call from Sean, who notifies me I have an order for my flooring that is ready to be picked up. I told him that I was under the impression that the installers would have everything they needed to install the flooring, he chuckles and says "I did too, but your vinyl plank flooring had to be special ordered." At this point I'm getting a little frustrated, so I go up to the store the next day to pick up the vinyl flooring. We went to the desk and let them know we were there to pick up the flooring. They alert the flooring department and I tell the girl at the desk where we will be waiting. We wait for almost 15 minutes and no one shows up. I go back up to the desk and ask the girl again where the flooring is. She then calls back to the department and then points out that its sitting on a cart behind me. We were never notified the flooring was brought up front. Our installers showed up on time today, were friendly and efficient. My Fiance asked the man installing the carpet when the bathroom floors will be done. The man proceeds to tell him that he does not do the plank flooring and that someone else will. At this point I start to worry again, so we call Superior to find out where the other installer is. The rep at Superior proceeds to tell us that Home Depot NEVER NOTIFIED the installers that the plank flooring was picked up. Remember, I was never told I even had to pick up the flooring in the first place, until the day it arrived? If I would've know the installers should be alerted of the pickup I would've made sure those installers were notified yesterday before I left the store, but I was under the impression, per Home Depot and my conversation days before with Superior, that everything would be done in one day. The rep at Superior was very nice and got us on the books for the next available date. The lack of communication and attention to detail throughout this process has been nothing but a headache. I realize that human error is inevitable, but it just seemed that the lack of communication was never ending. Although I probably won't have to purchase new flooring for many years I will make sure that I will not use Home Depot's flooring...
Read moreI needed an aerator for the bathroom faucet and I went to Lowe’s because it’s pretty much right across the street. There was a very helpful master plumber working the plumbing section who helped me find what I needed. It was a water conserving aerator but it turned out that it made a leak under the cabinet (which I read could be possible in some cases) and that was the only one they had so I went over to Home Depot to find more choices. I get over there and stop an older man, employee, pushing a cart walking by and asked if he could help me with a plumbing question. He kept on walking and so I said it louder and he reluctantly stopped and just stared at me like I was putting him out to ask. I had an aerator in my hand that was the same size as the other but 30% conservation instead of 50% and I had the piece from the faucet in my pocket. I asked him if this will fit this and he did not take one step forward or take the item to look at it or anything but just shrugged and said “it should.” He did not make an effort to even look at the size I had in my hand or the faucet piece. He had not even moved his body position since I stopped him. I explained this was my second try at this and that the last one leaked and does he think this 30% one will leak. He said “it shouldn’t.” I said, “but the last one did.” I’m still standing there holding out my faucet piece and the product like a fool and he repeated “it shouldn’t,” while looking off in another direction. I could see that’s all I was going to get from him so I just purchased it. Sure enough, I get home and it doesn’t even fit the piece I had in my pocket. The guy at Lowe’s opened the package and made sure it fit. I couldn’t even get the guy at Home Depot to look at the product. He clearly did not give a crap, and somehow I feel like it was because I am a female. I just don’t think he would have treated a guy like that. I really hope I don’t have to go back there to find one that works after I return this one. I think it would do some of Home Depot management good to walk into a Lowe’s posing as a customer with a question so you can see the difference. They are kicking your butt as far as...
Read moreI had a washing machine delivered by Linn Star Transport, who Home Depot contracts for deliveries. It was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a company, as the delivery guys left the washer I paid to have hauled away in the middle of the parking lot at my condo complex. Then after six calls to both Home Depot Customer Service and the company itself yesterday (both of the Linn Star Transport customer service agents hung up on me because I wouldn't accept a "we will have to call you back.") So after they failed to return yesterday to pick it up, as they told Home Depot customer service they were going to do, I called Home Depot Customer Service again this morning and was told the delivery company would not return to pick up the washer for three days, and they were closed on Sundays so she couldn't get in touch with them, she put me in contact with the store my order was associated with (S Lindbergh store) and their management was fantastic. They were able to send out a supervisor to pick the washer up this afternoon. This experience has been a nightmare, but I was extremely thankful to the team at this location for going above and beyond. I am giving 5 stars for this location, but am extremely disappointed that Home Depot has contracted such a shady and unprofessional delivery company. I read all of Linn Star Transfer's Google reviews which are 95% 1 star reviews for similar unprofessional, and again, shady business practices. If I were to give a review of Home Depot in general, they would not get 5 stars because of contracting such a this company to represent them. Thanks to Harris and the other management at this store for finding a way to pick up the washer on a Sunday when they don't normally handle the deliveries themselves and keeping me for getting fined by my HOA for dumping. While I will continue to shop at this particular Home Depot, I will never again purchase an appliance from them as long as they continue to contract such a terrible company to do...
