Would just like to let “Greg” and his associate that checked us out know that we work hard for our money and other than being a black couple with their baby in a stroller- nothing we did today should’ve raised your suspicions needing to know how many items we purchased! We Came in with my wife and son to purchase some items for my wife’s birthday. We did nothing out of the ordinary, went straight to the shoe section (because that’s what she wanted) we were greeted, we’re never greeted but we figured hey, it’s early in the day so the environment may be different. she tried on two pairs and grabbed both, plus a can of protector or something. Now A guy asked us did we find anything, when he seen the two shoe boxes. Just because we finally had free time on our hands, we walked through the entire store to shop. Tried out a folding chair- my wife noticed the guy from the shoe department was now closer to us like he was checking something in another aisle- we still paid it no mind and kept shopping. I picked out a meat seasoning I’ve been wanting to try and headed to the defense aisle. Picked out a stun gun and pepper spray and walked over to the kayaks just because it’s a habit when we come in with our oldest and we’ve walked the entire store by now anyways. We’re headed to check out Another associate mentioned how we the whole family was shopping- he called himself checking out the stroller while making small talk I guess lol. We’ve been in multiple times with our children and stroller and NEVER been greeted, checked up on, anything! It really took my wife mentioning how when the associate that was checking us out she rung up everything and before she continued she gets on her earpiece to say “it’s 6 Greg”- and what you know that’s the number of items we purchased today. I REPEAT: Not one action we took was suspicious or even made us look like we were going to do anything but shop and spend the $171 we spent today. But one action we are taking is to return it all in the morning because after processing this- even if the associated were to claim they weren’t profiling, it...
Read moreWe don't shop here as often as we used to since prices have skyrocketed across the board. But when I find deals, I usually buy online and pick up in the store. It's one of the things that I hate about coming to Academy. Why? Because the process is horrible. It's like that game we used to play in school. Where we had to spread a word or phrase throughout the entire classroom and see what it ended up being at the end. They ask your name and then say it over a headset. And the person on the other end has to decipher what was said and try to find that package. They never get the name right and you stand around waiting forever. It seems like it. And there store stock seems to have fallen short some. It's like they don't have as much in store anymore. That could be of availability or pricing, idk. I don't always want to shop online especially at Academy. Some times I want to see what I'm getting in real life. And even on their website they will show ALL items. Stocked and out of stock items which is so confusing especially if it's marked down and you click on the picture and every single item is out of stock... so frustrating. Academy is still a great store and we still enjoy coming here. We now just leave more empty handed than we ever...
Read moreTennessee prohibits any person from intentionally, knowingly or recklessly selling ammunition to an intoxicated person.2 Tennessee does not otherwise prohibit the transfer of ammunition to, or the purchase and possession of ammunition by, persons who are ineligible to possess firearms under state law, although federal ammunition purchaser prohibitions apply.
That’s the law. Copied and pasted directly from the state website.
So I was in academy, the person in front of me absolutely stunk of marijuana. Buying .223 ammunition. After this person was allowed to cash out, I asked the 2 associates if they smelled that. They said yea, it was strong. Then I asked them if they are aware of a policy or law that would prohibit this person From purchasing ammo, they said no. Then I asked if they can refuse to sell ammo to a person under the influence, they both said, “they are unaware”. So not only did these two associates and customer break the law, but academy doesn’t even inform their associates about the law. AND THESE PEOPLE SELL GUNS TO THE PUBLIC . This is irresponsible and unacceptable and I hope this problem is dealt with swiftly before this person commits a crime, that this...
