I can't really say that I dislike Kami Wolfchase, I just hate something that has happened there. I hate to leave this review because my daughter and I have loved eating here, but now question a lot of what has been happening in the kitchen. We went tonight 12/29 at her request. We ate our meal and then she needed to visit the ladies' room afterward. She went in, and I stood outside the door. I noticed that one of the workers went into the mens' room and didn't make anything of it. What I did note was him exiting the bathroom with a blue glove on his right hand. Also noted that he had on a black shirt with a small yellow vertical design or writing in the top middle of his back. It meant to me that if he had a glove on leaving the restroom, he didn't wash his hands. After my daughter was done and we got ready to leave, I needed to observe the kitchen staff to look for the shirt and the glove to ease my mind. I didn't see either with the 1st three workers I observed (none were wearing gloves by the way) until I got to the 4th...there was the black shirt with the yellow in the vertical top middle of his back and also a blue glove on his right hand cleaning out a pan. There is no way that I can be sure it was changed or if it was the same one from exiting the restroom. I talked with the manager about it, who said that it was changed, but there is no way she could be sure unless she observed him leave and return to the kitchen and change it himself which I highly doubt. Hopefully, nothing will come of this for us or anyone else who ate here or have eaten here. It probably isn't the first time this has happened, and I'm sure it won't be the last. More and more, I am getting turned off about eating at establishments altogether. The convenience helps but not at the risk of us getting sick due to unsafe working practices...
Read moreI'm pretty sure I've reviewed Kami Ramen at their Poplar/240 location. This Wolfchase location is a stand out for sure in Memphis. First the staff is unbelievably friendly, well mannered, helpful and customer focused. If half the restaurants in Memphis took a lesson from these folks we'd have a much better restaurant industry here. Atmosphere is really cool, no loud music, just folks eating and having reasonably toned conversations(not trying to out shout the table over). MAIN POINT: THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! We've been to this location multiple times and have never been disappointed, period. This trip we came with our extended family and had a miscommunication about the group size(my fault not the store) and they almost literally bent over backwards to fit our group of three extra members at the same table. This isn't a big store and tables are max 4 patrons. Luckily they can push a table or two together but they are somewhat limited here. I truly wish they would get a bigger space because they would be able to serve more but I guess it's better to keep it limited. While we've never waited long for our orders, this trip, even with them full (every table and chair included at the bar) we got our food within 5 minutes of ordering and the entire table was served(7) within 10 minutes! Hot, fresh, perfectly cooked ramen and rice bowls. Full bar, apps and dessert. 100% recommend this gem. Location is next to D&B/Best Buy/Target in the strip center off Stage and GTown Pkwy across from the WC Mall. Please keep them busy so we don't lose a...
Read moreSuch a cute ramen bar with tables, booths, and counter seats for dining in! The staff was great - welcoming and attentive. We went in for a late lunch and were greeted with a smile. The hostess seated us quickly with menus, and the waiter came to answer any questions and get our drink order. It wasn't very crowded as we went in at an off time, but there were still a couple of groups eating.
My husband had the spicy chicken ramen, which was good. I was going to order ramen as well, but when I saw the curry chicken katsu don I had to try it! I haven't had that dish in a long time, and coming from Hawaii, I can tell you that they did a great job. The chicken was crispy outside and tender inside, the curry was tasty, and rice was cooked perfectly. For drinks we had a cola and a hot tea. Our waiter checked back with us a few times and brought refills and anything else we needed.
Overall, we had a delicious lunch and a very pleasant experience. The bathrooms and dining area were clean, the atmosphere enjoyable, and the staff all professional yet friendly. We plan to return with our...
