So my experience was rough but overall the outcome of my situation was wonderful and I believe my story can help for future clients. The staff are great but need more training on symptoms to recognize when puppies/animals are getting sick. The communication and information given to customers definitely needs to be worked on and addressed. I think it is important for customers to realize Petlands are a franchise and not ALL are bad. I believe in our situation, we had bad luck and a bad experience but itās overall not a bad store. If that makes sense. On June 22, my husband surprised me with a beautiful Corgi. However that night I noticed she was a bit off. Super Runny nose, blood in stool, and slightly lethargic. So being that we live on base we decided to just take her to vet clinic here. (That was mistake number 1- had we known we could take her to Summer Ave Animal hospital where your first initial visit is FREE and they are who Petland has a contract with , we would have taken her to Dr Conley right away who again, is amazing) the vet on base didnāt really do much but sent us home with sinus meds for dogs. Daisy did not get better. All she wanted to do was sleep, she lost her appetite and the mucus began pouring out of her eyes nose and mouth and developed a nasty cough. So about 6 days after purchase we called around to all the vets in Millington and the only one we found that was available was a Banfield. (mistake number 2- we were not aware that they had a negative reputation and often called for unnecessary tests.) At this point she could barely walk or open her eyes, they put her on IV fluids for the day and at the time told us they believed she had distemper. I started desperately calling the store as well as Solutions pet. After 468$ Daisy was home and at this point basically dying. Many calls and many messages via fb to Petland later, All we were told was to get her to a vet and submit a claim later. However we didnāt have even more money to dish out at a vet for an already 4500$dog that we purchased under the guise that she was perfectly healthy. Every time I called the store they repeatedly said she was fine the day she left, to just call Solutions. They said they couldnāt do anything and one man even said I made her worse because I took her to Banfield (I honestly got pretty ugly and was not nice at all after that comment, so I want to apologize for that, but at the time I was just doing everything I could to save my dog) again at that moment they had yet to offer a solid solution or give us reputable veterinarian information. So I called solutions AGAIN and they then gave us the proper vet information. I called the vet, and they said if the store owners reached out to them to take over her treatment they could see her. After more back and forth with the store, the associates FINALLY reached out to the owners. They graciously agreed to take over her vet visit. I WILL FOREVER BE THANKFUL FOR THAT. I had my husband take Daisy in the next day and just as suspected she was in very bad shape. She had severe pneumonia (meaning she was sick upon purchasing) and only 50% of her lung capacity. She has had to stay at Dr Conleyās office for 4 days for treatment and We have visited everyday. She will be coming home tomorrow and I could not be more thankful and thrilled. She is an entirely different puppy and ultimately a wonderful new addition to our family. So to sum it up, I donāt know if I will be back and I doubt they would ever want to see my face in there again, BUT they did do the honorable thing and made sure our Daisy was taken care of. The store is clean and the associates are friendly and do care for the pets. The vet that tends to the pets there is wonderful and we will continue to see him while I am stationed out here. I do feel bad it had to get to an extreme level to get her care but at the end of the day we are our pets advocates. I harbor no ill will and ultimately wish the owners and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTHIS PLACE IS A CASH GRAB RACKETEERING COMPANY ā¼ļøā¼ļøā¼ļø DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
This place was investigated by humane society and they are now facing an active law suit because they are violating many animal laws. When being investigated human society found animals specifically dogs that werenāt so living in their FREEZERS. Just sick. I wish me and girlfriend did our research about this place before getting scammed into buying sick ferrets. All they care is about money and commissions, they donāt care about the animals or you. If you donāt believe me I will copy and paste the google research here ā Animal Legal Defense Fund Files Nationwide Racketeering Class Action Lawsuit Against Petland. The lawsuit alleges the national pet store chain engaged in a fraudulent scheme to sell sick āpuppy millā puppies to consumers at premium prices based on fraudulent health guarantees.ā
Back to the ferrets, you think they care little about the dogs here? Trust the treatment is just as bad towards small animals, me and my girlfriend ignorantly spent almost 700$ buying these ferrets which are sick. We were told they are in good health but were obviously lied to just so weād be good commission because of the large amount of money we spent. While in the buying process they went over NONE of their policies, said nothing, we didnāt even get a receipt. Take this as a warning so you donāt become a victim of this cash grab place.
Their āreturnā policy states that you canāt return a small animal because they donāt know what illness theyāll have coming back which is a risk for the rest of the animalsā¦. Mind you they never kept them in good condition to begin with and they get them from dirt cheap mills and sell them at large prices which also means the small animals here are prone to genetic diseases and etc. I digress, so I told him that doesnāt make sense because we were told we would exchange them. You all know what exchanging is rightā¦? Literally itās returning an animal for another one. He then further explains that itās because the go through a process of examining the ferrets or any other small animal. Iām like pause, I hanged up on him because that sounds suspicious. You can do that with an exchange but not with a return⦠YOUR TELLING ME THERES A LOOPHOLE IN YOUR COMPANY POLICY???? š dude be so fr. To sum it up DO NOT EXPECT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK FROM THIS PLACE. their policy is just set up to where you canāt get your money back. Thatās why you can do all that for an exchange but not a return. Booo you people are mean.
Our ferrets were literally sneezing none stop, scratching and biting their skin, scratching specifically near their ears, had green poop and diarrhea, and one is suspect to have a mental disorder. Do NOT buy ferrets or any animal from here. Youāll spend more in vet bills than you did buying them. We are forced to send ours to a sanctuary and Petland has scammed us out of nearly 700$. I hope you guys are happy, my girlfriend is deeply saddened. Weāre people too. Sheās a person too,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wonāt go into many details but to say, Iāve worked for a couple of the top Petlandās in this country ( not all are bad) that bought from top end breeders. , there are truly breeders that breed for love of the breed, and do not in breed or over breed their puppies, I purchased a puppy as an employee from Mike Davis from his Memphis store Petland Memphis, my dog has gone through hell in the first three years of his life with genetic issues I mean, serious, genetic issues, he purchases from one of the worst Puppy mills in the country called blue ribbon puppies LLC , Linda Wagler is the breeders name out of Odin IL. My dog has severe genetic IVDD in his spine which has alone cost me over 25,000 in surgeries, vet bills, supplements, Vet meds, etc. he had major spinal surgery back in September, and is now in the hospital with another setback in June. And if I canāt get him through this, then I have to face the inevitable of putting my dog out of pain, The first surgery cost me $8000 plus all the medicationās emergency bills and vet bills. His first year he was diagnosed with genetic allergies as well, I had him tested. He is allergic to over 18 different things, including human dander, the vets told me that the parents needed to be spayed and neutered, I reached out to Mike Davis and has not received any response whatsoever. With all the pain, my dog has been through, the pain and suffering Iāve been through caring for him like a nurse maid . I would do it all over again, because I took the responsibility when I purchased him. And he is definitely like a child to me, Little did I know, based on my experience with fabulous Petlandās, that this man was buying from poor breeders. I never wouldāve done it. I guess I believed that he was a good Petland owner. My dog has been in with Possible another disc in his neck. He didnāt go through the pain like this when he ruptured those two disk, and I had to rush him to the ER. Iām already $8000 in again. He will have surgery in the morning if they can find the disk if not, I have to take him to Nashville to see a special neurologist with an MRI machine. And I just donāt know that I can put him through anymore. Nor can my bank account take much more. Not even an offer of Iām sorry, condolences to what your dog is going through, nothing no phone call no text no nothing. So I am on a hunt for the breeder, will be filing a complaint against breeder and Petland do not purchase from this particular Petland make sure you research any Petland you go to their a franchise. Mike seems to think that this had something to do with us having a bad parting, that is just not true. I have a very successful Dog Training business. I did not need Petland, and I promise you I did not make any of this up. I can provide proof. I am doing some training for Puppy Dreams of Memphis and excellent pet store with clean puppies and a clean store. And they are highly rated and reviewed if youāre looking for a reasonably priced puppy compared to Petland you...
