I purchased a mattress, box spring, 2 end tables and a coffee table from Levin Furniture of Mentor in September. First time living completely on my own and had my parents with me to help make my selections. The salesman (unfortunately I can’t remember his name off the top of my head) was friendly and professional and my experience at the store couldn’t have been better. However my delivery was not so great. I had to wait 3+ weeks for my furniture to get delivered, and when the day finally came neither the end tables nor coffee table had been assembled; they were still in the boxes. After doing some quick Google searching, I realized I paid $50 more for each piece at Levin than if I would’ve purchased them directly from the supplier ($150 total). That being said they should’ve come assembled. When I asked the one delivery driver about why the tables weren’t assembled, he gave some excuse that management wouldn’t allow them to pre-assemble anything because there wasn’t enough room on the truck. Not sure how valid this is but sounds bogus to me. So I was left to assemble the tables on my own, not happy. (They at least set up my mattress and box spring so I’ll give them props for that.) WELL I assembled the coffee table and one of the end tables with some help from a family member and it didn’t take long, but when we got around to assembling the last end table we realized the pieces in the box were completely incorrect. I sent an email explaining the situation to Levin and received a phone call the next day from Kelly (I think was her name) and she was very apologetic and told me they’d replace my table free of charge AND it would come assembled, but of course I’d have to wait a month. At this point I was fine with that; the first weekend of November they delivered a new side table, this time there were new delivery guys and they were great, and they said the table hadn’t been assembled at the warehouse but they put it together on the truck. As I was talking to them, I explained the situation the first time and they even said there was no reason the other end table and coffee table hadn’t been assembled. Too bad I didn’t have these guys the first time around! Still I paid $50 more for each piece than if I would’ve purchased directly from the supplier (Ashley Furniture) and I’m assuming part, if not all, of that was for assembly. But I know I won’t be reimbursed for the 2 tables I had to assemble so that’s $100 I’ll never get back. Plus seeing how I waited over 3 weeks for that delivery it seems ridiculous they sent me the tables in boxes. Had my delivery actually been right the first time, I would’ve given this place 5 stars! But they really screwed up, not only having me assemble the tables but sending me a defective one. So -2 stars, unfortunately. However the store employees and customer service are great (and the 2 delivery guys I had the second time), and my furniture looks beautiful even after all the hassle! Just make sure to inquire about assembly when you purchase, or else you might end up in the same situation as me (unless you’d rather assemble your furniture on your own, but remember you’re likely paying more for them to assemble...
Read moreDO NOT BUY! They sell you lemons and don't follow their own policies. We bought a sectional here a few years ago. Within one week we noticed it was cheap plywood and one arm already busted. The seats never stays on the couch and slid off constantly. Thus making the body pillows behind you sink down, so your head has to lean on wood backing. The zipper within two weeks busted and the foam was coming out a bit.
We called them and they said they would get back to use after they looked into it more. Another week later we contacted them and they said there were still looking into it. Two weeks later we called AGAIN.
They said they had to contact corporate or some weird excuse and would get it fixed ASAP. After 3 more weeks we called and yet again excuses and delay.
Long story short we spent months doin g this. Meanwhile the couch kept having more issues. Two weeks before the limited warranty we contacted them for the millionth time and they said to they were now waiting for parts or some garbage (something they had said about two months earlier). They said not to worry about it still.
So we called them a week later (5 days after the expiration of the warranty). They said it was to late to get it fixed or work on a solution. I told them they LITERALLY were the ones saying they would fix it/take care of it and to give them time. Despite calling dozens of times over months on end.
In short, they sell lemons and cheap garbage and don't intend to help you if you have an issue. They prefer to run out the clock on purpose. I even brought it to BBB and Levin HQ made the "Well you waited to long" excuse despite us explaining what happened.
Thieves. Thankfully we have persuaded many friends over the years from buying from Levin. Admittedly I never went to the store as I cannot drive and and disabled. I think if I made a scene in the store, maybe they would have done more. Makes me think they take advantage of...
Read moreI am SO incredibly disappointed with our experience at this location. This was the first and last time we will ever buy anything from this store. Our salesman was INCREDIBLE - he was the only positive thing that came from this experience (shout out to Richard!). We bought a new sofa, chair and ottoman. Oversized, gorgeous set - totaling almost 4K (yikes). Delivery was incredibly fast, but two of the three items arrived damaged. Our couch had two slits in the fabric, a huge slash underneath the couch, and the fabric under the chair was almost completely torn off. We immediately called the service center, I got hung up on twice. So I called the Mentor store to speak with a manager - he was “out of the office” but the associate said she would have him call us. We waited hours for a phone call and finally got an email back from the associate telling us to call the service center. The manager didn’t even have the decency to call us and apologize!? I was dumbfounded. We once again called service and they offered us a gift card (WHY WOULD WE EVER PURCHASE FROM YOU EVER AGAIN KNOWING WHATEVER WE BUY WILL COME DAMAGED?!?!?!!!!!!) unacceptable. So we are still in a battle, attempting to get ahold of the highest ranked representatives to assist us. After all the research I did trying to find contact info, we came across tons and tons of bad reviews, product issues, bankruptcy reports… not surprised.
DO NOT BUY FROM LEVIN! There is a reason they almost went out of business and this is why. So so so disappointed that we now have to deal with getting reimbursed for the damage done to our brand new furniture that cost a fortune. Go to Furniture Warehouse in Mentor - half the price, twice...
