I've picked up food from there when I've previously had business in Mentor. I went to use my birthday promo but they were out of the pecan pie so I just bought my meal. Service was a bit slower than I thought would be for some chicken strips and fries, but the food was good and hot. I went today to order a slice of pie to-go before heading back on the highway and there was one other carryout customer waiting off to the side when I walked in. There might have been 2 or 3 tables occupied. I stood in front of the register and waited. A younger guy walked by a few times without making eye contact. A shorter lady rounded the corner and said someone would be with me soon and went to one of the occupied tables then back into the kitchen. An older couple came in and stood behind me. Another tall, female associate came from the back and spoke directly to them without making eye contact with me and asked if they were eating in and took them to a table, then returned to the kitchen. I looked toward the other side of the restaurant and there was a third lady in a room behind glass that made brief eye contact with me then went back to what she was doing. I kept waiting and the first lady came back out and started bussing a table and talking about the Browns with guests, then went back around the corner. In total, I spent just under ten minutes standing directly in front of the counter before I finally just left. I heard at least 5 distinct voices. Oh well. Saved a few bucks and some...
Read moreBaker Square no longer sells their wonderful 3 Layer, Non-Sliced Carrot Cake with the Orange Carrot Frosting decorations on the top for $19.99. They apparently have either outsourced the job or switched bakers because the current Carrot Cake is smaller .. 2 layers only & relatively dry .. it Does Not have the big chunks of fruit in it as the previous Carrot Cake had, this cake has far less frosting on it & no orange carrot decorations on the top, it is also presliced with paper sheets folded between each slice as if it has been made for a restaurant with portion-controlled servings, it comes with a massive cardboard ring/wrapper around it along with shrink wrapping which is difficult to remove .. some of the frosting was messed up due to being sliced & shoved around from all the prewrapping & the worst part ... they increased the price to $24.99!! I am so disgusted with Baker Square over this! This was a cake I ordered for a special occasion today .. a cake I expected to receive UNCUT!! Not something that looks like it belongs in the kitchen of a restaurant!! The ONLY reason I gave this review 1 star at all was because the frosting, what little there was of it, did have a decent flavor! I will NEVER buy it again .. Baker Square has lost my business with this over priced, over sliced,...
Read moreThe food is acceptable, but the real reason to stop here is the pie! There are classic pie selections like the fruit pies; creamy pies like coconut cream and custard; and the "gourmet" flavors like Peanut Butter Cup, French Silk and French Apple Cream Cheese. Also available is the "Flavor of the Month" ; Key Lime, Pumpkin & Candy Cane! Whole pies as well as individual slices in all menu flavors, are a little pricey but well worth the cost. Our family have been customers for well over 25 years and have never had any complaints about the food or the service. The dining room has always been clean and set up in such a way that you don't feel like your sharing a table with the groups around you. The only thing I would like to see improve is the rest rooms. While each rest room is passable as far as cleanliness, the scent of the cleaning chemicals is extremely strong. So strong that the scent makes its way out to the dining room. The rest rooms are also very small. If you have more than two ladies in your group that find their way there together, as women often do, there will be no where to wait for an available stall. Generally there are two stalls and a tiny little space to wait. GO...
