Had the crab cake Benedict. My wife had an omelette. Good things first: I liked the beignets, but the marmalade was like a sugar bomb so a little over the top on the sweetness. Not horrible. The coffee cups are neat. $30 a piece to take one home though (woh nelly). The coffee was just ok. It’s a house blend and not a breakfast blend so maybe I just prefer that. It just tasted a tad bitter even for a medium roast. The place was packed and really loud but we got seated relatively fast and the food seemed to come out timely. Things we didn’t like: the food. Folks, my wife and I were super excited to try this place. We saw the raving reviews, the fancy food photos. We were set and ready to enjoy an expensive breakfast experience and it just was not at all what we hoped. Breakfast is our thing. We love going out to breakfast at all sorts of places around Lake county and this just wasn’t it. My plate was hot, yet somehow my food was still lukewarm bordering on cold. The crab cakes tasted bad. At first I thought the crab went off but the server ( in a really awkward manner mind you) insisted the chef made them fresh that morning. Well alright then, I guess they’re supposed to taste bad then. The sauce overtop was really salty and began to congeal and form a film on top which told me my food sat for too long. My wife’s was piping hot so that’s just bad timing on the kitchen’s part. The breakfast potatoes were cold and not crispy at all. Definitely was not made to order. Neither were my wife’s. I asked for another dish and got a simple scrambled egg with spinach, meat and cheese and even that was just meh. Folks if you ask me this place is like an IHOP in disguise pretending to be some upscale breakfast joint. Way overrated and way overpriced. If this was just some simple diner breakfast I’d be more sympathetic, but all this costed over $44 before tip. Yikes.

Situated at the entrance of Great Lakes Mall in Mentor Oh. You will find this gem. Just look for all the cars in the lot as this is quite a popular eatery; and for good reason. The atmosphere and the service is excellent, as well as the food. If you love mimosas, you’ll enjoy theirs. Ask for Ari, she’s our favorite server. While things can get a little on the pricey side, it’s worth it in my opinion

Tried out a new restaurant today Another Broken Egg Cafe after our exercise. This is located near the Great Lakes Mall where Max and Erma’s used to be. We heard there have been long waits since they have been open for just a few weeks, but we got right in. They are just a breakfast/brunch place, so they close early—2 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Weekends. Mattie A was so friendly and cheerful and took great care of us. The interior is bright and airy and the food is what we would call upscale brunch. They make their own coffee ($3.99) from bean to cup which was good. We started with a half order of biscuit beignets ($4.99 for 4). These were a bit heavy (not light and airy like mine…). Probably wouldn’t order them again. One of us ordered the country power bowl ($14.99). It had everything but the kitchen sink in (country ham, onions, cheese and tomatoes, and topped with sausage gravy) and served with bacon and a gigantic biscuit. It was served on cheddar Jack cheesy grits or potatoes. It was a huge portion. Enough for 1 or 2 more meals. The other ordered the hash brown Benedict ($14.99). This was a crispy ham and cheese potato croquette, similar to a potato pancake, topped with perfectly poached eggs and an herbed Hollandaise sauce with mushroom and red pepper. It too was delicious. If you are just looking for eggs and toast, this is not the place I would recommend. But if you are adventurous or looking for something special, this is the perfect place. We are definitely going to come back because there are other things we want to try. They also have seasonal items, so you can count on the menu changing.

DO NOT COME HERE!

On 5/10 at 10:30, my family and I came to have brunch as we were going to have a family celebration in the afternoon. Upon arriving, we were told that it would be a 40 minute wait to be seated as it was Mother’s Day weekend- which was perfectly fine.

We waited 40 minutes and then were seated at a booth in the back.

The server took our drink orders and water orders as we as we wanted it to go with our brunch drinks. We waited at least 15 minutes before our drinks arrived. No waters were given at time. We kindly reminded our server about our water orders and placed our brunch orders. She states that she would be back with waters as well as speciality creamers for our drinks.

We waited another 20 minutes before she came back to our table only to laugh and say “your lunch order was thrown out so I have to take your orders again.”

We told her our brunch orders again and reminded her again about our water. She stated that the would get it right away but never returned.

We waited an additional 20 minutes with no food nor water in sight.

We saw the manager in a green shirt walking around and explained the situation to him. He offered no apology nor empathy and instead said rudely “it’s mothers day weekend, this is how it is”

We kindly asked if he would be able to see how far along our food was. He snarkily said “Yeah, I’ll take a look.” When he returned to the table, he said “it’s on the cart so it’ll be coming,”

We waited another 10 minutes before we finally saw our server again (mind you at this point it’s been around 35-40 minutes since we have seen her nor any other server in this establishment). At this point it’s now 1:20pm and we have a prior engagement and can’t stay any longer. We immediately called her over as soon as we saw her again, and asked to pay for our drinks as we needed to leave. Our server was very rude and said “but it’s Mother’s Day weekend.” We explained that we have a prior engagement and needed to leave but she just repeated her previous statement again.

She stalked off and then got us our bill within 2 minutes (which is honestly the fastest service we received throughout this whole experience).

The staff at this restaurant was completely rude and very nasty when speaking to guests.

We understand that it’s Mother’s Day weekend and all of my adult family at the table have experience working as servers in the fields. We understand that long waits do happen due to high volume of customers. But it is absolutely no excuse to be nasty and rude and not update your customers with simple communication. The hostess was clear when we arrived and gave us a very great timeline and offered good communication. Our server and the manager did not, and instead decided to to respond nastily. A simple update and check up on us would have went a long way as well being friendly.

We will not ever come to this...
