So between my wife and now adult daughter I have been dragged to this store for over a decade.... I can tell you as a man with not a single crafting bone in his body this store is full of things to distract you for at least 30 mins.
There are models of various things from planes to cars which I have found enjoyable to look at for around 5 mins.
They have several different locations throughout the store for paint, it can be a fun Easter egg style hunt to find all the different types (the colors really don't matter).
Let's also not forget there are many objects made of wood, paper, plastic, and glass that can be painted or stained. All of which I look at and wonder why not just buy them already done.
Once I have finished those items I tend to look for the current seasonal items to see what people that actually care about any of this would like their house to look like..... So glad this doesn't occur in my own house.
The final thing I will look at it the collections of things that have no place in this store at all. Last visit the item that caught my attention was paint balls that claimed they are "washable", any parent with any sense to them knows this is a LIE.
Once I have found there is nothing more to engage me I now start the hunt for the wife or the daughter, once found if the wife is the one whom dragged me here I will 1st be shown the great bounty of which I am expected to pay for this visit.... Then I will just stare at her as if one min more in this store will kill me so that we can finally leave. If it is the daughter one that has brought me here I simply find random objects to throw at her or just simply hit her with them. She then knows it is time to leave.
So in closing Michaels can be entertaining but not...
Read moreI'm @ the store with my friend Jude (an artist) and we've been meandering through the art supplies when she needs to ask an employee for assistance in locating 'graphite paper' and after that asking the same female employee for help in understanding the different clays. Later we were in the frame section, not finding what we need and here comes Mary M strolling down the aisle and immediately shows us where the clear plastic frames are. By this time, we're kind of joking around with her, she has a great sense of humor and she has the much-needed social skill in dealing with customers. Jude and I are going through the check-out line, she's being helped but I'm loitering because I have a gift card. About that time, Mary M saunters by, asks if I need help and then helps me check-out at the self-serve kiosk. I told her it's like she's my personal Michael's assistant, she's been so much help. And I thought this lady needs a review and we kind of laughed about that. I want the local company to know what an excellent employee they...
Read moreI can always find what I need at Michael’s. My project was to put my WV License Plate on some sort of wooden/slate material or even a picture frame so I can hang on a wall in my house. (Just recently moved to AZ from WV about 3 months ago.) I must have looked lost trying to figure things out, when all of a sudden a very nice store employee asked if I needed help. At this point I felt as if she threw me a lifeline! She helped me decide on paint choice, paint applicator, and craft sheets. Not to mention her awesome suggestion of using collage to put the pieces of craft sheets on my wooden plaque I picked out. If it weren’t for her (I can’t remember her name), I more than likely would have walked out of the store with just a wooden plaque. She is definitely an asset...
