King David Massage — Local services in Miami

My partner and I had an infuriating negative – extremely expensive – experience with King David’s Massage. Beware of this “business”!

I booked a 90 minute couple’s massage for me and my partner for Valentine’s Day. My partner and I had gone back and forth on ordering it because it was so expensive (and we’re used to New York prices), but we decided to splurge because of the holiday. Worst decision. Read on:

We’re in our hotel room waiting for our masseuses to arrive. We hear a knock on the door, open it expecting to see two massage therapists, but there’s only one. His name is Enrique and he has frenetic energy, seems in a big hurry, and tells us that he only has one hour (even though we had ordered 90 minute massages.) Enrique starts a timer on his phone before he even begins setting up the massage table, I’m not making this up. We decide I’ll get a massage with Enrique so my partner can at least get the 90 minute massage, since it’s her present after all. So I get started on my 60 minute session while my partner waits around for the second masseuse to show up.

What transpires is the worst and strangest massage I’ve ever had. Enrique puts on pulsing club music and pokes and prods at my body – mostly my calves – for the duration of what turns out to be a 42 minute massage. Before rushing out the door, Enrique tells me to pay him via venmo, which surprises me because the person I booked with said I would be paying via credit card. He says it’s $190 and he switches his venmo from business to personal when I pay. I add a tip despite my bad experience, ultimately paying $220 for this terrible massage. All of this is happening in a flurry since Enrique is in such a rush. As soon as he leaves, I go to the King David Massage website to double check the price for a 60 minute massage (since I’d only been quoted a 90 minute massage, since that’s what I ordered.) On their website it says the massage is $155! I’m furious.

Meanwhile, my partner is getting massaged by her therapist, who had arrived about 30 minutes into my 42 minute massage (some couple massage…). The only good thing I can say about this whole experience is her massage therapist, Michael, was very attentive, talented, understanding and also flabbergasted by Enrique. In fact, Michael stayed extra long because at one point he had to run down to his car to get his lotion (which he had forgotten.) Michael was transparent about pricing and gracious about the 20+% tip we gave him.

The next day, I get in touch with King David Massage to complain about my experiences and request a refund for my massage with Enrique. After going back and forth with the massage dispatcher, I finally get connected to the owner. After I threatened to go to the Better Business Bureau, I receive a partial refund ($96, for the tip and the 15 minutes off massage that I paid for and didn’t receive.)

I’ve used this in home service a couple of times. Usually is good. This last time I was sent Mailyn and had a terrible experience. First of all a Deep Tissue massage is not just rubbing the skin. It is supposed to work the deeper tissues and the knots under. She didn’t work deep enough to dissolve any knots and actually her nails were quite long, they were hurting my skin. I asked her about it and she said she barely has nails (you can see her hand on the image bellow). Also the sheets didn’t seem clean at all, they had some big stains and the pillow smelled - I put my own towel on it to be able to survive this massage. Very very frustrating to pay so expensive and not even get to relax or get the massage...

I love to receive service from King David Massage. Every therapist that worked my body or my face and to my family let us wishing more... thank you 😊🙏 I want to make this update to highlight the performance or work of Andy (Andrew), because he is exceptional as a therapist. He has a lot of knowledge and is very well prepared as to how to help his clients with each pain. Andy has helped me a lot to release tension and relieve pain for me and everyone in my family.
