I arrived by foot to the location after having a nervous walk with a couple of men following way to close behind me. When I arrived to find the gate open I tried to just walk to the door to seek some sort of protection and the ‘security’ that was there yelled at me that I couldn’t be there. I understood I was 12 minutes early but just wanted to wait somewhere safe. We couldn’t understand each other due to a language barrier and he told me pretty much to get out and wait. So I waited by the gate and the gallery opened late. It was a frustrating and nervous making experience trying to just get to the venue. I did speak to the woman at the front about the ‘security’ officer and she asked if he had left already and he had- she was sweet, kind and empathetic to the situation and told me she would speak to him.
