In response to the owners response: seems there was a misunderstanding about the yoga class being taught. However, concerns about feeling bullied and shamed by the instructor are still valid and should be taken seriously. It's important for studios and instructors to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students, and to respect individual differences and needs.
Original post: āSometimes you have to bark at the dogs when theyāre not listeningā. This is the comment Blayne made to the class right after trying to adjust my posture. Aside from the owner/instructor being rude , you will not get a workout here. And if you try doing your own variations, Blayne will turn into one of the biggest bullies you have ever met. And she calls herself a yoga instructor. She is the complete opposite of a yoga instructor. And prob got certified taking online classes. It is no wonder her classes are almost empty. She did nothing but passively aggressively shame me during most of the class because I was doing my own variations. She is a terrible person and her empty classes speak for themselves. Also upon leaving 5 min before class ends , she tried to bully me again and again and ask me repeatedly if I was okay, then started coming at me like she was going hit me for leaving class early and shouted at my face to let her know next time i have to leave class early. She is extremely aggressive. What a waste of a good studio to have such a terrible instructor. Will never ever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI genuinely love the classes at Yo-BK. Iāve been on the unlimited monthly membership, and the workouts are top-tier. Alex and Giola are two of my absolute favorite instructors , theyāre motivating, knowledgeable, and always bring the best energy. I truly look forward to their classes every time.
But I have to be honest, the customer service and policies really take away from the overall experience. If you miss a class, thereās a $20 fee. Totally understandable, if youāre able to communicate when something comes up. But there have been several times where I was stuck in traffic or couldnāt find parking, and I tried calling ahead to let them know⦠and no one ever answers. So I still get charged, even though Iām clearly someone who shows up consistently and values the classes.
Same thing with the guest pass. Iāve tried calling so many times to bring someone, and itās always a hassle. The one time I finally got through and brought my brother to class (back in May), I was told later that I canāt bring him again because guests have to be new people every time. He doesnāt even live in the state, and thereās no option for a limited monthly membership or drop-in for guests. It just feels unnecessarily rigid and honestly kind of discouraging.
I really do love Yo-BK, and the workouts themselves are incredible. But for what weāre paying and the loyalty many of us bring Iād expect a lot more flexibility and way better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook my first hot yoga class with Johan and couldnāt have been happier. It was an amazing power yoga flow, the instructor was mindful of each students abilities to optimize the asanas and clearly knows how to make a yoga class fun and inspiring. Left feeling a little sweatier and 100% rejuvenated. Iāve been practicing Ashtanga yoga for many years, including instruction led by Sharath Jois and David Swenson. My practice has encompassed 36 years of yoga and when I say this is an incredible studio, that is said from the heart and many many years of being on the mat daily. Highly recommend the Tuesday 7am :-) I also highly recommend the friendly half primary Ashtanga with Anya! I follow her wherever she may be teaching!! Yes, Anya is that amazing. I promise you, this class is a must for beginners as well as seasoned yogis. Now adding more to my original review: Ninaās class is also well worth mentioning! A cross between yoga and the toughest barre moves along with sculpting weightsā¦. Love it. Yo BK is the whole package for your...
