This is a follow-up to the one-star review that my husband āErik352ā gave you three weeks ago. He was referring to the very obvious discriminatory treatment that he, my husband, and my teenage child experienced during their visit to your branch at 2075 Interchange Rd, Erie, PA. I had to wait a few weeks for my anger to subside considerably so that I could write this with clarity. I have been overemotional as any person would upon witnessing their family member become the recipient of your staffās unacceptable attitude and rudeness. Iāve had more than ten years of customer service experience as well and Iām aware of the common tendency to simply write a generic response to an online customer complaint so that the metrics would reflect well on the company in terms of being āresponsiveā to feedback, particularly with Google reviews. However, being an advocate of ANTI-RACISM and now a victim of such treatment in your store, I cannot dismiss your insensitive disregard for what could be a disgusting reflection of your work culture. You responded to Erik352ās review with this comment: āWe will certainly address this further with our store management team.ā Address it further? How??? Did you ask to be contacted by Erik352 to be enlightened more about what happenedā NO. Did you ask WHEN this happenedā NO. Did you want to know which section of your store this disappointing experience occurredā NO. How will you āaddressā this matter with your staff if you donāt even have any substantial information to discuss? You may not care about the details at all but I am supplying them anyway. I suggest you review the SECURITY CAMERA RECORDING last April 28 (Friday) and rewind to the footage between 11:00 am to 11:45 am at the pocket knives section of your store. In the video within that timeframe, you will notice an ASIAN father and his teen daughter standing directly in front of your female staff who was then serving another customer. For over ten minutes, even while the current customer was busy filling out a form, your female staff stood there and did NOT give a word nor spared a single glance at the father and daughter who waited patiently for your staff to at least notice them. I repeatāyour staff was directly IN FRONT of my husband and child and she would not even make eye contact. And then, you will also see in that footage, a CAUCASIAN couple approaching and the very instant the female staff saw them, she was courteous enough to tell the newly arrived couple that they will be attended to in just a while. In front of my husband and child, your staff even called another person to tend to the couple⦠and the same female staff proceeded to ignore the two Asian people once again. My daughter was seriously affected and very disturbed by such a blatant display of discrimination she experienced in your store and this saddens me as a mother. I do not want another insincere apology or generic response from you or even a $1 discount from your store. What I hope is that this would prompt your management to check your camera recording, identify the staff, and take serious action because RACISM in any form is wrong and should never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFinished my day at work and thought Iād stop into Sportsmanās Warehouse because I have been meaning to buy some 9mm and a replacement red dot for my gun.
Part 1 for the 1 Star: I arrived around 5:30pm to them having had already locked their doors leaving only their exit doors open. Sign says they close at 6pm. When I got inside through the exit doors I wasnāt greeted by the employee standing at the entrance who seemed to be avoiding even looking in my direction. There were customers all around so I assumed I could still shop.
Part 2 for the 1 Star: I get to the counter and patiently wait for the employee to finish talking with a couple about a gun they are looking for. Hearing them finish the employee walks towards me and asks if he can help me. I let him know what I am looking for and he tells me he doesnāt work with the guns and yells across the store to ask another employee a question about the red dot I am looking for. After we get no audible answer from this employee he looks back at me and recommends me the most expensive red dot. Mind you after telling me he does not work with guns. I inform him of the price point Iām looking at and this employee doubled down with his already poor attitude telling me I am going to get what I pay for and that he doesnāt have anything in that price range. I asked him if he had another fire arm which only appeared to irritate him further which he looks in the next case and tells me they donāt have it. He also immediately after answering me asks me if there is anything else I can help him with and before I even answer starts walking away from me. I didnāt get his name but from the conversation he is a younger guy who wears thick framed glasses and says he is from the archery section.
It is sad that there is already so few commercial firearm retailers but the one we have in Erie has terrible service. Iām gonna just try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took an item that had fallen out of my rotation to them to potentially sell. I took it on March 9th and was given the options of $185 cash or $235 trade in value. I wasn't expecting them to offer top dollar for it but those numbers were lower than I expected so I left with my item. After thinking about it for almost a week I took the same item back today intending to trade it in for something else. Based on the numbers I was given on the 9th it would have been very close to an even trade. To my surprise I was told today that my options were $145 cash or $165 trade in. I was told that the person I spoke to on the 9th didn't document that appraisal and they weren't sure how they came up with those numbers because they were wrong. This sums up my overall experience with Sportsmans as a whole. I've experienced several of the issues others have noted in their reviews as well (inaccurate stock, lack of stock, significant delays). I've been a very good customer but I've had it at this point. I'll be taking my money elsewhere.
Update: 3/27 It's been 10 days since I called the 800 number they asked me to call in their response. I was told by the representative that they would escalate the issue to the store manager and to expect a phone call from them. No phone call.
Update: 4/12 Still no call. Never really expected one. Go to FishUSA, your local gun stores, or Field & Stream. We're clearly just numbers on a balance sheet at...
