Don't believe what you see or use common sense in this store as the people who work here are clueless. You need to have special sensory powers to checkout your items. Was in town with my brothers for a couple days and stopped in here to pickup a few things. Went to checkout and saw a checkout line with its light on and a giant employee dealing with a customer at the end of the belt with no line. My brother who is older does not deal with self checkout and this checkout did not say ''SELF CHECKOUT'' on the pylon(light) as did the others on each side of it, so he proceeded to put his items on the belt. After the Giant employee was done with the customer in front of us, she walked away and never returned. We asked another employee walking by what was up, and she says it is a ''self checkout.'' To which my reply was that the sign does not say self checkout. She repeated that it was, and I said, ''That's interesting because it does not say self checkout'' So my brother had to put everything back in the cart and move an to another line that did not say ''self checkout'' and was serviced by a cashier. As my brother was checking out, I said to that same employee that ''maybe you should turn that light off, so customers don't get confused.'' She tells me that ''the light is broken, and it's self checkout as it's in between 2 other marked self checkout lines. I said again, ''But it doesn't say self checkout.'' To which she says, ''It's in with the other self checkouts.'' So I say, ''So we are supposed to know that and assume it's self checkout, though it doesn't say self checkout based on it being in with the other self checkouts. And her reply was, ''Yeah it's in with the other self checkouts.'' Needless to say I was astonished at this rationale of thinking, as anyone with common sense and can read would assume it's not self checkout as it did not specify on the pylon or anywhere it was self checkout, but would rightfully think it's a regular cashier and open since the light is on. Not the opposite as this woman stated. What good customer service would have done was to say, ''Sir since you have your items on the belt already, let me check you out real quick. I know it's confusing not being marked, but I...
Read moreDeli section needs a bell to ring for service. The lady with the red and black hair was too busy chatting with another employee even after a third employee pointed out she had a customer. She could have at least turned around and acknowledge my presence. It wasn’t busy as I was the only customer waiting for service. I finally walked away. I will go down to Hockers. And since I have to buy my deli products there, I may as well do the rest of my shopping there. It’s not that much further for me to go down Cedarneck Road to get better service. Lately the only thing that has kept me as a repeat customer has been your checker, Miss Doll. A year later and nothing has changed. Sorry about that. It has changed. It has gotten worse. I am going to miss you , Miss Doll.
New post. Today April 5, 2024. Bait and switch. The display of the UTZ potato chips clearly stated “buy one get one free, any variety of equal or lesser value”. I picked up the Ruffles ($1.88) and selected the Sour Cream and Onion variety. Sign on the shelf indicated they were also $1.88. I was charged the full price of $4.79 for the Sour Cream and Onion. I took my complaint to the customer service counter and showed the lady the display. I was told that I misread the sign and the ”any variety of equal or lesser value” only applied as long as that variety was the Ruffles even though the sign on the shelf in front of the Sour Cream and Onion was posted at $1.88. Both sell for $4.79 when not for sale. I demanded a return of my $4.79 and she became condescending. I’m 77 years old and will not tolerate that kind of attitude. I have been a long time customer and spend over $10,000.00 a year in this store. I should have demanded a return of my full amount and let the customer service return all my items to the shelf. If it were not for Miss Doll in check out you would loose a lot...
Read moreI can’t believe I am writing a review on a grocery store but I want to warn everyone on how BAD this store is! Went grocery shopping at this store for the week on 7/27 after arriving at Bethany beach on a Saturday night, the place was busy as expected. There was barely any bananas, what was there was brown and rotten. All the other produce was slim pickings, lots of empty shelves throughout the whole store. After spending over 2 hours in the store, a huge chunk of time was waiting in line to checkout because there was ONE person checking customers out…ONE!!! Everything else was self checkout, on a busy saturday in a beach town in the summer…the lines were almost to the back of the store. The next day I open a package of soft taco shells in a box of hard/soft shells I purchased…they were completely moldy! Expiration date wasn’t until October 2024. The grapes I purchased started to go bad after 2 days! The ground beef purchased with the sell by date of 7/30 was brown and had an awful smell on the 29th. The apples looked good at first, then after a day or so they looked so bad we had to throw out half the bag. You would think a large grocery store in a beach town would be fully stocked and wouldn’t even be able to have rotten items on their shelf’s, guess not. Don’t waste your precious vacation time or your money at this store. It is awful. This place doesn’t even...
