Venus Nails — Local services in Millville

My mother and I are summer locals who decided to try out the nail salon we pass regularly. To say this salon is unprofessionally run is an understatement, the owner incredibly rude. I purchased a manicure and pedicure for both of us for the price of $45, adding the gel polish for an additional $5. Prior to the polish being applied I confirmed with my technician that the polish would only be $5 total for hands and feet. She agreed. After the completion of my appointment and analyzing my hands and feet I noticed how sloppy the polish was applied, lumpy and not covering all of the sides of my nails. Some fingers had my red polish painted past my cuticle line onto my skin. All in all, this was the worst mani/pedi I’ve ever received. When I asked for them to please fix it, the owner jumped up and partially fixed my fingers, asking if I wanted a top coat on top. Is this a real question? Of course I would expect you to complete the job that wasn’t correctly done. Upon asking for the bill the owner tried to charge me $55/each, charging $5 for both my hand and feet. I refused saying I’d pay the amount agreed upon prior to receiving their services, 100 total. The owner (referencing her own technician said “she doesn’t know price, she doesn’t speak English”. Again, is this a professional establishment? I want to note that I am a normal customer who also works in the public service field and am not someone who complains. I have taken down a prior review and can no longer recommend this shop at all. After 10 years of being a loyal customer, I will not return. Today, despite making an appointment with Holly, accommodating HER schedule (she pushed me back to 1:30 pm) AND showing up on time at 1:30 pm, I am leaving after 2.5 hours. Oh - and Holly only did 1/2 of the services… she pawned me off on her son for the gel pedicure, because she was tired and it was ‘just too much.’ Her son is a nice kid- but when I make an appt with HOLLY (and I was clearly on her schedule, with no other scheduled appointments), I expect Holly to perform the services. I waited 2 hours for Holly, while she waited on 3 other customers, and before she got around to my dip manicure. There is no excuse. Holly is rude to most customers, and is frequently rude and short with me. I’ve tolerated this too long. No amount of skill or nail craftsmanship is worth being treated poorly…. AND THEN BEING CHARGED for this attitude and behavior. Today, Holly charged more than she’s EVER charged me ($120)... She tried to argue saying ‘this is what you’ve always paid!’ This is incorrect. My bank records show I’ve never been charged this much. Their pricing is NOT transparent. Feel like dealing with nasty behavior from the owner and a ‘who cares?’ attitude from the employees? This is the place for you. Ten years as a loyal and consistent customer…...

This place is horrible and very expensive for the service. I got a mani/pedicure done on the 6/13/2023 for $64 , on the 15th the nail polish on my fingers was chipped already. I went back to show them and after telling me that that was what happens with regular nail polish, (this was not the first time that I got a manicure in my life)they offered to retouch them. I declined because the owner raising his voice said and I quote” I will do it this one time but this will happen again with regular nail polish. Next time you should get the jell”. I declined and told him this was the first and last time in that place for me. He again using a loud and not polite tone said “ it’s ok “. On my way out I hear someone say.”some people are a…h”. I turned around and asked whom had called a client an AH. Every employer said “not me”. One of the client said “ I said that” he was a guy getting a pedicure of about 50 years old . ( looked as pompous as he could be) . What a horrible experience. . I am 67 years old and I have never in my life experienced anything this horrible. I just moved to DE from outside Philadelphia Pa.
