Usually I am NOT the one to record things and post them on the internet and definitely not for CLOUT. But my experience at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Ridgedale Mall was one of the WORST experiences I’ve had in a while. Me and my son walked into dicks to purchase a pair of shoes since the vans I bought just didn’t work out for him.
Patrice decided to help us or NOT, and my experience was less than subpar with her. We walked up to the kids section and she told us here was the cheapest shoe section which I didnt respond to that comment. I let cinco pick out his shoes because I wanted to make that moment special for him. She got us the size we needed, he liked the shoes and she then asked if I was done shopping and if she could bring my bags to the front (small vans bag, small old navy bag) I was taken aback and told her no. I walked to the front of the store and told them my name and asked if it was TYPICAL for the employees to ask customers for their bags? One girl looked at me with the weirdest face and told me “UM NO!” I said okay well can I please speak to a manager?
Jared comes up and I let him know that I am upset with my experience in his store today and told him my story, he asked if it was PATRICE, which tells me this isn’t the first time something has happened and he proceeded to tell me he didn’t think it came from a place of MALICE but he understood me being upset. I walked out of the store with the shoes PURCHASED, I thought about my experience and decided to go in and let her know how I felt POLITELY because we get NOWHERE being loud and irate besides even more PROFILED. I recorded the interaction and during that Interaction she started to cry which let me know she KNEW she was WRONG, after the interaction I returned the shoes and asked for a corporate number. Another employee rudely came up to me and asked me to move out of the way as if I was taking up space, there were 4 registers open and two people behind me, as I was waiting for the manager to come back up to get me corporates number he asked me to take my bags off the counter because it kept making the tag reader go off. I kept my composure and waited for them to get me the number and I thanked them and left.
With everything going on in the world I chose to show my son a better example of a good person and how to stand up for yourself.
I used to spend a lot of money at Dicks Sporting Goods but I will choose to spend my...
Read moreToday I went to Dicks to pick up some cleats, after getting picked up by my partner from an informational session for a league I'm joining.
I had ridden my bike to the session, but I had forgotten my locks, and so we opted to bring the bike inside the store to avoid it getting stolen, assuming that it was allowed on seeing a bike section in the store.
I passed by at least 4 different employees while wheeling my bike through the store, into the elevator, and downstairs into the store. Not one of them said a word about a "no bike policy".
I parked my bike on the edge of the cleat section, and was trying on cleats when I noticed two women looking at my bike. I continued to try on cleats, until I saw a manager approach the two women. I sent my partner over to speak to the manager to understand what the problem was.
She came back and told me there was apparently a "no bike policy" in the store and that they asked us to bring it outside. A policy seemingly nobody else knew about it my 15 minutes in the store.
A "no bike policy" to someone who doesn't have a bike lock is effectively "please leave the store", halfway through trying on cleats, because another patron had issues with my bike or the decorations I choose to place on it(my bike has stickers supporting LGBTQ+ causes and pro-palestinan causes, which I suspect are why these ladies complained to the store about my bike).
I will remember this interaction the next time I need to buy sports equipment. It made me very angry to be effectively kicked out of the store by another customer due to them disliking stickers on a bike. It was upsetting that the manager lied about a policy to remove the bike. It didn't leave me feeling welcome at Dicks and I definitely won't be coming back...
Read moreI have not found a functional way to contact the correct customer service department that should handle this. I need to pass along my experience at this store, hopefully someone in charge will read this and take action.
I was in the store June 25th at around 4pm.
I do not know how many employees are working on a given day, but I was unable to find assistance at all in the store. I had never been in this particular Dick's before and I was looking for a very specific item which required me to wander from department to department. Eventually I found it, but I did not see a single employee willing to offer assistance.
When I made it up to the front to check out, there was one lone cashier and a line 6 deep. There were two associates scuttling back and forth doing basic restocking and either unwilling or unable to help assist move the line along and check people out. A simple 2 minute wait stretched well over 15 minutes.
If there is any sunshine in this the cashier, Cassy, was amazing at her job. She was diligent and thorough with each customer in line (doing addons, ensuring the loyalty card was mentioned, etc.) and did it in an extremely friendly and kind manner. She definitely deserves to be recognized.
In the end, I'm extremely disappointed with this store's absolute lack of customer service (aside from Cassy) and I will not frequent any of these stores again.
I hope this message gets to the hands of someone who can do something about it. I tried the customer service website and every submission method I attempted either was unworkable or straight up broke my...
