We originally went to another local furniture store in Spanish Fort in search of a perfect family sectional. We spent thousands of dollars only to find ourselves completely disappointed. Our custom order was not only weeks late, but two different fabric colors. After a very long and painful experience, we reluctantly started over with our search and found ourselves at Barrows Fine Furniture in Mobile with salesperson Sharon Edwards. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in the door and shown a wide selection of floor options. Although hesitant, due to our first experience, we decided to go the custom order route once again. Sharon went the extra mile to not only keep me informed of when and where my sectional was in the manufacturing process, but to deliver on dates promised and quality of product and service (the sectional even arrived a week earlier than promised). Sharon and the Barrows team turned a horrible nightmare around for us. We have been sitting on our Robin Bruce sectional for about three weeks now, and have had no disappointments. HUGE thank you to them for making this process easy, and...
Read moreBought a king bed and memory foam mattress from Barrow's in Mobile for $2000. Didn't sleep on it for first 4 nights because we were out of town. It was horrible, so after a few nights of trying to get used to the new bed we decided to call Barrow's and let them know we were unhappy. Barrow's gave us their deepest sympathy and told us we bought it, you're stuck with, and proved to us that their "superior customer service" is only during the sale and not after.
A few more nights on this terrible bed I discovered the frame was constructed poorly and had insufficient support for the mattress and the people sleeping on it. I spent $50 on lumber at Lowes and rebuilt the supports underneath the mattress. I spent an additional $150 on a topper to help with the discomforting mattress we paid $1150 for.
Barrow's could have easily followed up with our situation but we didn't even get the courtesy of a call from the manager.
This week I found a very similar king bed for $200 less and a king mattress for $500 less at Costco. Do yourself a favor... before making a decision, go by...
Read moreMy advice: Buy furniture elsewhere other than Barrows and here's why:
Barrows sells furniture that when you sit/try out the store model it feels nice and firm but when you get what you ordered it doesn't feel quite like it did in the store model. Apart from that it doesn't hold up very well after just a few years of usage. Twice this has happened to us; We bought furniture from them back in 2000 and again on 2011. I just took the 2011 furniture to Goodwill after it began to creak, pop and fall apart. Just for grins and giggles I cut into the underlying cover under the 2011 couch I had and found the structure was made entirely from pine wood, one of the weakest woods you can use! I saw sections of it coming unglued, unfastened and bolt holes that were rounded out causing bolts to wobble around. On a side note we purchased a living room set (sofa and loveseat) from Hanks Furniture about 5 years ago and thanks to its all metal structure it's STILL holding up just as well now as it did when we bought it.
To sum it al up: Barrows sells furniture just to sell but...
