While the atmosphere is nostalgic and comforting, the service was awful. The staff was more worried about petty theft than assisting customers. The staff did not seem happy to be working there and it took away from the experience. I watched a worker, who I presume to be a manager, chase down a child for taking a piece of 25¢ candy, and proceed to seem upset when he couldn't find the kid. I just feel like the company is more concerned with making as much money as possible than worrying about their customers and workers. Overall, decent atmosphere but the terrible service ruins the whole visit. Would not recommend visiting this store.
Side note: I also feel like the person who responds to reviews is not professional at all. Saying "it is what it is" and "SMDH" isn't going to help anything and just puts the company in a bad light. I understand that theft hurts business, especially small ones, but you have 15 stores and from what I have researched they are all doing well. Whether it's true or not, saying that a way a parent is raising a child is "sad" isn't right at all. There are better ways to handle criticism and troublesome customers.
Edit: Over a year has gone by and I get a notification saying that my review was answered! I was hoping that I would be greeted with clarity. I did not expect to receive “Nuh uh you're just lying”. I'll admit that my research may have been incomplete, but I did not write a “false statement by you” I simply just wrote what I experienced. That's not fact or fiction, it's my opinion. For a statement to be fact, it needs to have no ambiguity. Not only was I accused of lying. I was lied to! You may have had the same three girls working for you for some time, but not when I wrote my review. I was doing a lot of Christmas shopping during that week, so I was in and out of that mall/store. I remember a rapid change in staff. Maybe as if the staff I first witnessed wasn't happy working there, as I said. There's also another review around the same time as I posted mine that was responded too saying “Not sure why you decided to give us a 1-star review. You only worked there 2 weeks and didn't talk to anyone about why you suddenly left. Good luck to you in your future endeavors! - Richard M., Owner”. I did visit prior to 2024. My visit was in December 2023, and since that's the case. You don't even know what theft I'm talking about. Normally, you guys love to post YouTube links/proof, but you brought no proof to this response. How are you going to accuse me of lying when you don't even know the crime I witnessed. The last thing I want to review is the owners responding to reviews like mine. Seriously, please grow up. Bashing bad reviews just makes you seem like a child getting caught in the cookie jar. For example, saying “This would lead us to believe that either this is a fake account that you only use to trash businesses or you are a truly miserable person who cannot find any happiness in your life. Either way, I wish you the best! Thanks - Richard M., Owner” just makes you wonder. I would also like to mention that you did not respond to that portion of my review. For a company that uses “As veteran owned” in almost every response, this doesn't give you the right to just be mean. I imagine you feel really cool when you hit that post button, but it doesn't make you seem really cool. If all these statements are false, then prove it or leave it alone.
