I rented the place for 2 years, 2bdr Positive: Location is great, spacious apartment, amenities are great.
Negative: Privacy- they walk in at any time they would like, no notices. And yes, look at other reviews, I encountered that guy who robbed tenants. Though they say it’s a single incident but nevertheless it happens and they need to allow to at least install door chains
Electric bill - add extra $600 for 2 bdr (they will say it’s not their fault but it is if the entire system uses electricity for everything, so factor it in into your living expenses) The rule is to keep the radiators on even if you are not home because pipes will freeze So if you are away for a week - elect is still running
Hot water and sewage charges - You get a small tank of heated water for a 2 bdr apt with 2 full bathrooms .. the problem is - 2 people can never take a shower at the same time because water gets cold after 8 min. 1 person with long hair will be in trouble A really big problem especially if you get dirty at work
Moving out charges for us were $1700 I am a reasonable person and take responsibility for not moving everything out of the place and I know there were 2 last weeks of rent prorated but they get ridiculous with their expectations of you do a full cleaning of the place including baseboards wiping, shelf paper, cleaning bathtubs to sparkles, dusting every counter; you can’t hang anything on walls - a charge for a every nail hole Let’s go back to the criminal I talked about - same guy was expected to prep my apt however when we moved in - nothing was cleaned by him. I spent a week cleaning both bathtubs, oven, every cabinet (oil inside and out) fridge etc. They sent the same guy to clean while I moved in already. Just one look at him was enough for me not to be comfortable to be in the same space with him so I opted out of his help. For a week I couldn’t figure out a gross smell in the apt until I found a kitty litter box and sand bag in one of the closets which then made me look inside all closets. All doors behind (facing your clothes) were smeared with something that looked like some human substance They changed carpet in the entire place but then charged me for cleaning during the move.
When I asked to work with me considering the circumstances of me moving in - no flexibility at all.
Just know what you sign up for.
Last thing - when I brought up the fact that some items they billed me for are not even on the lease agreement - even after they referred me to a specific page - the answer was - my lease on the online portal is not the same as the one they have.
They have an answer for everything.
No regard for me paying like clock work even when we switched to month to month with a higher rent. No flexibility to even adjust a week - we thought we will move in 2 weeks but moved in one. They still billed for 2. They will hold you for what they have in writing, no excuses or good deed. The problem is they will charge for what is not written too.
People beware and don’t get fooled by pretty pics and fake smiles. You will pay for that mistake with your hard earned money. And just read their response to my review - it’s going to have a list of excuses. A renting property should expect a regular wear and tear and consider circumstances, the good...
Read moreI was a resident at Walnut Crossings for three years. I’ll give pros and cons.
Pros Nice office staff that always plan events for residents The maintenance staff are kind, quick, and efficient The apartments are very spacious with great natural light Fitness center is small but you can get a good workout in there for sure Nice pool Great location, close to everything you could possibly want/need Neighbors are friendly Diverse environment
Cons The electricity bill is disgusting. Literally the best way I can describe it. Prior to moving in I saw multiple reviews saying the bill was $400-500 dollars and I was certain that was an exaggeration…IT’S NOT. My electricity bill got as high as $600 in the winter. To add insult to injury, my heat went out every year I was there. And the reason being is the building is terribly insulated. I could feel cold air coming through the crown molding on the floor! So whatever the cost of your apartment, add at least $400 in the winter and $200 in the summer for electricity when considering true cost.
The walls are paper thin. I could hear the woman above me phone ring everyday. When she moved out, I had to take a broom to the ceiling because the new tenants would be loud all night long. I would hear conversations, sex, music they were listening to, their TV, the baby they babysat, literally every noise they made, I heard it.
When the wind blows THE WHOLE BUILDING CREAKS AND SQUEALS like it’s about to topple over. Again, that is not an exaggeration! Eventually you get used to it but then I had a baby whose sleep was constantly disturbed. Renewing my lease for a fourth time was simply not an option for that alone.
This is the first apartment I’ve lived in where the resident is responsible for the water bill. Strike one. Strike two, it’s not just what you use in your apartment, they split the bill for the whole apartment up for the residents to pay. Strike two. Strike three is when I moved in the bill was $66 dollars, when I moved out it was $100. Again, these are things to consider when you’re looking at the rent. Total cost is markedly more.
When I moved out I received a bill of $450. I did have a balance of $600 something odd dollars that I intended to pay whatever my security deposit ($500) didn’t cover. But they managed to tack on three hundred something more dollars. Nothing was broken or damaged in the apartment. These were “standard” fees. So be weary of that also.
As you can see there are way more pros than cons, but the cons were just way too big for me to stay, and they even gave me another con to add to the list after moving out. If they fix the insulation in the building which should be illegal not to as far as I’m concerned, then I would absolutely recommend these apartments, even with the other cons. Unless/until they do, I would...
Read moreI have been living here for over 6-7 yr. I love the stuff members and their support to make this apartment a better place to live. Since the managment have made an initiative to make it these apartment "modern" by removing carpet and have the wooden floor, I am sure it maybe looking very fancy. But, it made neighbors lives miserable living on lower level.
I totally agree people should make it feel like it's their home, but at the same time, they are sharing a wall/floor with someone. People should absolutily respect that as well.
My upper level neighbors seems to be college students and they are so loud, screaming, playing loud music and yelling all the time. The worse part is, even if they are not screaming, I can hear them walking all the time because of "Morden floor". I can pin point each and every step they walk, and I can hear them talking very clearly ALL THE TIME. Matter of fact, I was in meeting from work and in middle of the meeting, I can hear them making out, LOUD AND CLAER. I wish Google review would allow me to upload an audio file (instead of just a photos) and you would clearly hear how loud these floors are.
I am writing this review at 11:30 PM at night because I can't fall asleep due to all the noise. I wish this was just a weekend thing for college kids. But, it is happening regularly.
I have yet to make a complaint about these noisy neighbor to apartment office and see what action they take. But I think it is not all my neighbors fault too. These apartment folks should know having wooden floor may look good, but it is making lives miserable for people who living beneath them.
Suggestion for people who are considering walnut crossing:
Worse:
definitely look at the apartment which are vacant, but pay very close attention to upper level. Ask management, if the upper floor has carpet or wooden floor. Sometime there might not be anyone at home at upper level when you go visit the apartment. So make don't think and buy they have good sound proofing going on. Because that is definitely not the case.
Best:
I LOVE the management team here. They are so welcoming and and trying their best to make this community a better...
