A Nightmare from Start to Not Yet Finish
I wish I could write something positive about my experience with Tesla, especially as a long-time fan of the brand. However, my recent experience with the car-buying process has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I placed my order, it became clear that Tesla’s customer service, particularly with the advisors, is severely lacking.
I placed my order on July 19, eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new car. But instead of excitement, I was met with frustration. It took a full 10 days just to get a VIN assigned. Once that hurdle was finally crossed, I was informed that I needed to purchase insurance immediately, even though the car wasn't in my possession. This means I’ve been paying for insurance on a car. I don’t even have—an absurd requirement that adds unnecessary financial burden.
To make matters worse, when I received the mobile charger, I discovered that it was used. The fact that Tesla would send out a used product with a brand-new car is unacceptable. I contacted my advisor, Nick, who, true to form, was not helpful at all. Instead of resolving the issue, I had to go back and forth over eight emails just to get a return label. Tesla even tried to offer me $50 to keep the used charger, which only added insult to injury. The process of getting this sorted out was time-consuming and unnecessarily complicated, adding yet another layer of frustration to an already bad experience.
Dealing with Nick has been an ongoing source of stress. From day one, his attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. He rarely answered my calls, and when he did, he was rude and condescending. Nick was unable—or perhaps unwilling—to provide clear answers to my questions, and he certainly didn’t show any care or concern for my situation. His arrogance and lack of professionalism have only made a bad situation worse.
As of now, nearly a month has passed since I ordered my Tesla, and I’m still without a car. Despite being told that it was sitting in the Milford, CT branch and would be shipped soon, it has now been 10 days with no updates or progress. The lack of communication and follow-up is appalling. The estimated delivery dates have been a moving target, shifting from July-August to August 12-19 and now to August 23-30. It’s clear that no one is taking responsibility or ensuring that customers are kept informed.
In conclusion, my experience with Tesla's car buying process has been a disaster. The complete lack of transparency, poor communication from the advisors, and the financial burden of paying for insurance on a car that hasn't been delivered make it impossible for me to recommend Tesla to anyone. What should have been an exciting and positive experience has instead been a source of stress and disappointment. I expected better from a company of Tesla's stature, but unfortunately, they have failed on...

To begin with it was difficult to get in touch in regards to setting up a delivery date for my vehicle. Once I got in touch I spoke to Nick who asked me if Thursday of May 23rd would work, to which I agreed with. The closer it got to delivery the Tesla app stated I was booked for the following day (the 24th) for the same time. I stuck to the original schedule and drove down from Springfield MA. When I arrived at the location I was cast aside for another individual picking up their vehicle. During this time I inquired about reorder the vehicle in order to switch over the .99% interest loan incentive. Giving credit where credit is due, Nick was able to carry over the VIN to the new order. The issue is while doing the process I was left unattended for a decent amount of time while the advisor played with his phone. It took my girlfriend walking up and asking if we were all set to get further guidance. The following day when reviewing the finance paperwork the numbers were off my a large margin. The vehicle price after taxes came out to the correct amount. The problem is that I was doing a $12,000 down payment in addition to the $7,500 federal rebate which adds up to $19,500. The finance paper work with the app stated that I owed approximately $4,300 and was taking out a loan for $48,000. If anyone can do basic math the numbers don’t add up at all. After calling Tesla and jumping through hoops they corrected the paperwork to the correct amounts. Day of delivery I checked in again and spoke to the experience manager at the time named Robbie. While bringing my complaints the team of advisors kept looking to my girlfriend even though I was the one purchasing the vehicle. Robbie promised to look into the shortfalls when it came to the customer experience. Still waiting...

It was difficult to find but after a little perseverance and asking around, we found the parking lot where all the Teslas were. There was a very VERY small sign right near the valet parking area, that we missed twice. We parked our vehicle near a sea of Teslas and walked inside to find the Tesla store, which was located near the large faux waterfall, Ben & Jerry's, and Starbucks vicinity. We already had an appointment, checked in with the associate, and waited; the whole process of signing paperwork etc. from start to finish was about two hours. Based on their website, it was supposed to be about a 20 minute process but they were short-staffed at the location, hence the long wait time. One good thing is, there were a lot of things to do in Mohegan Sun while we were waiting. Other than that, the employees were cordial, especially the person that helped us outside with the plates and setting up the vehicle. 3.5...
