A real mess!!! My wife and I were at the casino this evening and decided to give Summer Shack a try. The wait time wasn't bad about 25 minutes and once we were seated and placed our drink order, diet coke for my wife ice tea with no lemon for me, we took a look at the menu. They have some interesting choices and the prices were not bad for the casino. When our drink orders came, my tea had lemon in it, not the end of the world but a little irritating and my wife's soda was flat, so we asked for another soda and that was flat as well, so they brought another one, which was flat, when we told them again they said that the CO2 was always that way...hmmm okay I'm not buying it but okay so she ordered iced tea. We placed out order I had a crab cake and order the grilled shrimp and sirloin and my wife ordered chowder fries and grilled shrimp the appetizers came out in about 15 minutes. The crab cake was pretty tasty, but the tarter sauce or whatever it was supposed to be was mediocre and the apple slaw was just some julienne apples with vinegar, nothing to write home about!! The chowder fries were regular fries with clam chowder labeled over them, we thought it odd the clam chowder with potatoes in it was labeled over fries but I get it. The wife said the clam chowder was a bit on the salty side. After we finished our appetizers, we noticed that all the other tables around us had bread baskets, and as people were being seated they were getting bread baskets as well. When our waiter came around we asked about it, and he brought us one (he forgot) I ordered another ice tea, which came with lemon (grrr) and had the added bonus of being in a dirty glass!! There was crud all over the outside of the glass, so I asked for another ice tea and you guessed I go ANOTHER slice of lemon!! So back to the bread basket, I tried a slice of cornbread, now I don't have high expectations for cornbread in New England but this stuff was even worse than I have come to expect. It was dense cold and slightly greasy, so dense that my butter knife could barely cut through it, and well it just tasted funky to me. So with all of that out of the way, we sat waiting for our entrees and waiting and waiting and waiting a full 55 minutes from when we were seated!!! My entree the sirloin steak with grilled shrimp was a sirloin steak sliced up and served over fries with a thick slice of barely cooked red onion on top, I had ordered my steak medium and it was rare and everything was way over salted!! The one brite spot was the grilled shrimp it was pretty tasty, slightly over cooked but at this point we were starving and it was pretty good. After our food arrived, out waiter never came back around to check on us and after we finished eating we waited some more to get the check. To his credit we didn't get charged for the drinks and he knocked the chowder fries off the bill. So the bill came up to $78.00.......For $78.00 I expect a hell of a lot better food and service. I realise that the casino is expensive to eat at but even though it costs a lot we normally walk away happy having had a nice dinner...not this time though, we probably would have been better of going to the Summer Shack in the food court, it's a lot cheaper and our expectations would...
Read moreI unfortunately write this as someone who used to brag to everyone I knew that this was the best lobster and service around. But when 3/4 of my recent visits in the past year and a half went bad I can no longer talk positive about the Summer Shack anymore. My Most recent visit started off great with excellent service right away, a quickness to get the drink orders in and the food orders, the drinks hit the table and were the best parts of the whole experience, Shack attack and key lime martini were mixed perfectly. Ordered lobster mac & cheese and a 2lb Famous Pan Roasted Lobster.…food hits table...lobster mac looks delicious...lobster was not pan roasted. Several employees walked by as I tried to get the attention of one to tell them my order was wrong. Approx 2 minutes went by before anyone even noticed, the employee that noticed took over the experience as my previous waiter was to never be seen again, well they take the lobster back and approx 15 min went, at this point my partner is half way done, eating extremely slowly because she felt bad for me, then my pan roasted 11/2lb lobster hit the table.I ordered a 2lb, at this point im annoyed, shortly after my partner takes a bite of claw meat from her lobster mac not expecting a huge piece of cartilage was going to be in it…so wrong size lobster after receiving just what appeared to be steamed and then my partner almost chokes on a piece of cartilage from a improperly processed lobster. All while this went on the manager of the Lobster Shack watched from about 20 feet away and had a meeting with all employees involved in my experience, after the meeting, the manager and other employee in the meeting walked away the server that continued to help me was very loudly expressing her issues with the job with another employee behind the bar within clear earshot of many employees. Not once did the manager come to see how I was doing. Also after bringing it to the attention of the server that finished the transaction that the lobster mac had cartilage in it and I was served the wrong lobster once again, she could only offer dessert on the house and had a a attitude until she gave me the bill. The bill hits the table and charged for a 2lb lobster even after telling the server it indeed was not and she agreed. I pay it realizing that the service was not going to get better and I just wanted to leave. Unfortunately this experience at the Summer Shack ruined what was supposed to be a special meal and a great experience at Mohegan Sun, I cant say when I will be back to Mohegan but I will not step foot in the Summer Shack again unfortunately due to all of my previously bad experiences this one being the stand out bad enough to...
Read moreI come to this establishment for clams on the half shell. That is my primary reason for coming here. I drove up on Christmas Day. I arrived at approximately 6 p.m. and saw the sign for BOGO beginning at 8 o'clock p.m. till closing. Since I was early I entertain myself for 2 hours and then returned to the establishment. I sat down and a waitress approached me and I asked for BOGO of a dozen clams on the half shell. The waitress replied, it's Christmas and we are not honoring that. I explained that maybe the manager would after all I am a frequent Patron and the sign posted did not exclude holidays. She sent the manager over who approached the table begrudgingly, and I conveyed the same message to him as I did to the server, and he looked at me like I had four heads. I was telling him that he had an advertisement without exclusions and he was not holding up his end of the bargain. Since I told him the truth, he apparently did not like the way I was speaking to him. He dismissed me and when I asked who I could speak to address the issue he said I'm it. When I then told him I will speak to the Mohegan Sun Hotel management, he threw his card at me and he said go speak to anyone you want. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed that a manager working Within this fine establishment was permitted to speak to customers and clients of Mohegan Sun with such disdain and attitude. This guy should not be working in a service industry and I will do everything that I can to make sure this man is either fired reassigned or retrained. I know Tricia used to be the general manager and I hope that she still reads these things. I am also reaching out to management at Mohegan Sun, Mr. Hamilton, because they do not want vendors on their property treating customers who are their clients being treated in this manner. I know that. That is why they will do something....
