I recently made a purchase in the Morrow location store and wanted to share a few things. The young lady that helped us was great. I forgot her name but she was very slender, had purple hair and she had a great personality. I appreciate her. However I did not like how the employees were all on the phone making personal calls. I feel like if you are having a slow day, take that to the back room and chit chat. But some of your employees were lounging on the furniture in full-fledged personal conversations.
Furthermore, while I was waiting to check out, the gentleman whom I assume is the manager answered the phone and a customer politely said, " Hello, I am calling to check on a delivery." He had the lady on mute and just let out an aggravated sound. He began discussing the situation with another employee and the other employee said, "Ima just have to call her back." He takes the customer off hold or mute and says, "ma'am I am processing some things for you I will have (don't remember name) call you back." The customer proceeded to share her mind as she had been waiting on this promised delivery.
I immediately felt discouraged because as a customer spending my hard earned money I could be treated this way as well when simply inquiring about something I paid for. I also don't like how this store has products and furniture advertised but it is not in stock. If it is not in stock let the customer know immediately with a sign on the product to lessen frustration. I am a black woman living in Clayton county, hardworking educator, entrepreneur and I LOVE my people but it breaks my heart to describe this location as ghetto AF. My husband even had to share his mind with one of the other gentleman who took the chair I was sitting in when I got up to use the restroom. I'm 8 months pregnant and he acted like I "took" his favorite chair or something. THe young lady who helped us tried to cover for him by stating that that is his favorite chair, but dang I am the customer find another chair. It may have been harmless but it still was annoying. I'm not just another person, I'm a paying customer.
Overall, I don't know if I caught them on an off day, we are human and nobody is perfect, but management seems like he is too busy trying to be cool with his staff versus running a clean-tight ship with great service. I was told that I need to stay by the phone because if they call and I miss the call from delivery I would have to wait until the next day, here it is 6:35 and I have not received one call about my delivery that was supposed to happen today. I rearranged my day to wait on this delivery. I have learned my lesson and I will not be coming back to this location. Absolutely ridiculous treatment when you are spending thousands of dollars for cheap made furniture. You have a few gems in the store that seek to do right by customers, but the non-chalant attitude of others overpowers the aura of this location and really makes for a poor experience. I noticed a couple of families walk-out, but I was adamant on shopping with "my people." Plus it was very dirty in there....
Read moreI am at American Freight, Furniture Appliance , Mattress and I thought that I had found an excellent deal on mattresses, but apparently I did not. The tags clearly state that selected mattress are 90% off list price, so my first question to a clerk, while I waited was. Which mattress are 90% off, the first clerk tells me they are all the.price that is marked. And I state that none of them is marked 90%. He proceed to walk out the store, I'm thinking he has to check something. No, he is just walking away from me. So I ask another young lady and she tell me that it is certain mattress and not all of them. She back to the office to talk to her supervisor after I tell her that the math is all wrong. The manager tells me that its the sanitized mattresses. And she the first to even ask which ones I was interested in. So I wanted to get a full mattress, she says, "Those are our new Sealy's and those are not 90% off". Okay so there was a stack of queen sized mattress that she tells me are sanitized and are 90% off. So I say okay at this price I want the two sets on the floor. She says okay, they are 360.00 a piece and the box springs are 180.00. I tell her, No, if the price is 90 off the list and list for the mattress is 1249.99 that means the mattress is 124.99 and the box springs list price is 500.00 and 90% off that is 50.00. Well then the story becomes, well these must not be on sale then. The manager, Tim is not allowed to talk to me. She tell him that he has a problem with a customer about the prices on the mattress. She tells the story like I am belligerent, when I am simply stating the fact that your math is wrong and everytime I point it out, you change.your story. Now it the factories fault because they sent over the prices. It is still not my fault. Your math is wrong. I can do sales percentages, if I can't do anything, I love a good sale. But my treatment this morning as a paying customer was horrendous. I was patient, even when the store wide manager was called again, I pleaded to talk to him. I was told he refuses to talk to customers in his off.day. I was told that, I don't want to lose my job for selling you these mattresses. It was the double talk of the year. I have never felt so ignored and abused when I was trying to spend 100's of my dollars at a business. The staff is not trained to handle their mistakes, except the weekend Manager that tried but it was only double talk...
Read moreUpdate: 12/7/23: I spoke with Mr. Jason, who kindly responded below. And he apologized and everything was ok. He told me my items would be delivered on Tuesday 12/5/2023. Well, unfortunately, here it is Thursday, 12/7/2023 and of course I still don't have my items and i havent heard from anyone. I made sure to make myself available on Tuesday and have my phone nearby in case anyone called. Nothing happened. I called and emailed Mr. Jason back and I didnt receive a response yesterday. I just don't know what I couldve done to deserve this. Reading all these positive experiences but yet mine has definitely been horrible. Im beginning to think its on purpose. Good afternoon. My delivery date was last Saturday. The delivery drivers were very nice. However, my order was all jacked up. I ordered 3 recliners. And only 1 was on the truck. And the 1 that was on the truck was the incorrect color. The casablanca couch I ordered only one side came with legs. I called Morrow and told them. And the drivers wrote everything down. I was told someone would call me to arrange for the correct delivery of my stuff. That was Saturday. I waited. No one called by Tuesday, so I called back. A young man told me that someone would call me back later that day. That never happened. So I called back on Wed, which was yesterday. I asked for a manager. I spoke to a woman. She was nice. She also said she would personally call me back as it was too loud in the store at that time due to renovations. I explained all my issues and she said they would fix them. They would bring the correct color recliner for the one I received and they would bring my other 2 recliners and bring me some legs for the couch. And yes, you guessed it, she never called back. I have been patient and understanding this entire time. But this is ridiculous. This whole time I've heard there's a lot going on in the store due to renovations. And I understand. However, that does not give an open excuse for not providing the customer service americam freight wants to be known for. I am quite upset that I am having to do all this. Because everyone really has been nice. But I just want my items. I want to be treated like a customer...
