I am a resident of Liberty’s South Bay facility in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. I feel it is important to recognize employee actions that are over and above the required normal, good, every day traits expected of employees. Fortunately, I was the recipient of such employee behavior and wanted you to know how much this is meant to me.
I have lived in South Bay for just over one year now and certainly enjoy the expertise and professionalism shown by the staff here. Also, the residents are very friendly, and I feel fortunate to have found such a great place to retire.
I was married for over 33 years to a wonderful man and, as a visual reminder of our many years together, I wear his gold bracelet and necklace strung together around my neck, every day, with his gold and emerald wedding ring hanging from it. It is a lovely reminder of our years together, and I receive compliments daily on its beauty.
Unfortunately, last month I woke to find the ring missing. The clasp had become open, and the ring had dropped off.
Imagine my surprise to receive a phone call from our Dining Room Manager, Fanta Jones-Richards, asking me if I was missing my ring. Apparently, one of our Servers, Elsy Gomez, had found my ring under the table where I ate dinner the evening before and reported her find to Fanta.
Somehow, Fanta remembered my necklace and the unusual ring and connected Elsy‘s discovery to me. Neither of them merely took the ring to the Lost-and-Found location, but personally determined to find the owner of the ring and return it.
Such dedication is certainly to be recognized, and I would appreciate it if Liberty management could somehow convey to both of them how important this was to me. I have certainly passed on my thanks for their exemplary behavior, but the situation exists because the leadership at Liberty conveys this attention to resident happiness to their employees. And, it...
Read moreDo not let the looks of this place help you make a decision for staying here. The nursing care is below average. The Skilled Nursing that is on brochure is a lie. There is NONE there. Getting my medications on time did not happen. They gave me wrong medications also. Their pharmacy is in North Carolina, so do not expect your medicines to be there when you arrive. They had to order mine and I waited over 24 hours to get them. Staff member actually left a pill for me to take on my table while I was sleeping! When I called for a nurse one night, she came to my room and said:" I cannot deal with you right now, I have 3 patients with covid down the hall" My bed was never changed in the 4 days that I was there. As a heart patient there they should have been checking my blood pressure. They did not. Nursing station was very loud while trying to sleep. Had to get up to close the door so that I could sleep. I did my best to sign my self out as soon as possible. DO...
Read moreBoth of my parents moved into different facilities within South Bay and both died before three months. The property is lovely and there were some kind caregivers, but there were serious deficiencies and noticeably indifferent staff members. Concerns, even serious medical issues, took unreasonably long times to be addressed, and basic information was hard to get. Further, vital information about an incident which hastened the death of one parent was deliberately withheld. I so regret that I chose South Bay and and know I would have had my parents longer had I not been so influenced by the look and location of the property. Although independent living there would be enjoyable, any one wanting a skilled nursing or assisted living facility for a treasured loved one might want to look elsewhere. A higher price does not guarantee more dignified treatment or higher...
