The Dolly Llama — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

This is my second review of this place. The first time we went, we enjoyed our ice cream and spent some time talking with the owner. We gave the place a five star review. The second time we went, it was lacking in customer service. The staff working the second time was more concerned about their food delivery (they had Cava delivered) than they were about customer service. We were the only guests in the store. When the food was ready, we had to walk over to the counter to get our order. Now if I had been working and there was no one else in the restaurant, I would have delivered the food to the table myself. The staff sat around and did nothing. The waffle was served too hot in a coated paper cone. So the ice cream melted very quickly. It became a sticky mess. We asked if we could use a metal cone and they told us “this is not typically provided to customers.” They need to figure out another way to serve the bubble waffle. The cone doesn’t work. The product was really expensive. It is over $10 a person. But the staff needs better customer service training. They need to stay busy and not sit around, doing nothing when the place is slow. Fill the beverage fridge, clean off a table, refill the napkin holders, do something besides sit around and talk. There is more to the job than just...

During my visit to Dolly Llama, I had initially arrived to inquire about the closure of IndentGo, a neighboring business. Despite the unrelated nature of my query, the staff kindly called someone associated with IdentoGo to let them know they had customers waiting outside. However, what truly stood out was their exceptional kindness. Recognizing the inconvenience faced by others who had made the trip to IndentGo, they went above and beyond by calling someone to open the business. This selfless act ensured that those outside did not make a wasted journey. I was deeply touched by their thoughtfulness and willingness to assist, even in matters unrelated to their own.

Dolly Llama is a place where kindness shines through every interaction. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and valued. From the warm greetings at the door to the genuine smiles as they serve you, their kindness is truly remarkable. It's clear that they care deeply about their customers' experience, and it makes a visit to Dolly Llama not just enjoyable, but memorable. My husband and I would give 10 stars if we could. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is SO kind, and the desserts are just SO. GOOD. We tried the 12 pc OG mini waffles and boy were they delicious. I loved how there was such a wide variety of sauces and toppings to choose from to top our waffles! And I have to give a special shout out to the owner and the staff — when we told them we were bringing some of our waffles to a family member in the hospital, they were not only kind enough to put half the waffles in another box for us, they gave us free sauces/toppings for those too. And as another note, that family member LOVED the waffles so much that we probably need to come back with more waffles. Who knows, waffles from Dolly Llama might be a new Thanksgiving tradition for us at this point, they are just. that. good.
