We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and have always had a great experience. This time around was not good. Every time we stay here, we request a roll out cot as it works very well for our family. I called ahead of time to request this as we have done every time in the past. I was told we could not have a cot as it didn't line up with fire code. Strange, as we have always had one in the past for this exact same room. The lady was very rude on the phone. When we arrived to the hotel, I'm pretty confident they had a note on our reservation because as soon as Alyssa (the general manager) looked up our reservation, her whole demeanor changed. I asked if we could request a cot, and she told me "she knew about us already" and she would not be giving us a cot. She was incredibly rude about it. I was very taken back by the way she responded. Another gentlemen was at the desk with her, and he stood there with his arms folded shaking his head in agreeance with her. Fast forward a few hours. We had packed an air mattress but forgot the pump at home. Not intentionally. By the time we realized this, we drove to Walmart and they were closed. I drove to a Walmart 15 miles away, they were also closed due to being short staffed. Every CVS and Walgreens were also closed. My wife went up to the front desk and asked Alyssa one more time if there was any way we could use a cot just until morning so our kids could get some sleep. It was 11pm by this point. She told my wife we're lucky she was even letting us stay at the hotel since we had 5 people with us (which we've always had) and we should have been more prepared for this trip. She then went out to tell my wife she was not giving in because we'll try to do this again next time we come. After my wife told her we will not be back to this property, she said she was not going to play this game with us. Every single thing that came out of her mouth was rude and unfriendly. She wouldn't make eye contact with us, and couldn't even crack a remote smile to give a kinder response. Not sure what point she was trying to prove with us, but she was sure out to prove one. At the end of the day, its fine if she didn't want to give us a cot, but there's a friendly way to approach a guests request. Her way was not it. We will...
Read moreI travel a lot and typically book Hilton because of the points. However decided to try out Cambria due to reviews and marketing as luxurious, well as price compared to Hilton hotels in the area. Service was okay. The attendants were sitting in the lobby when I walked in the door, then they walked up to the counter but didn't seem to be very courteous or friendly. As a matter of fact I asked a simple question to confirm that I had a double room and the person helping me, an older lady stated "We're fully booked we can't change your room." to answer my question. It's as if she assumed the reason for my question was because I wanted to change my room without me even asking to change my room. Textbook customer service faux pas. Do not create a problem where none exists. The room was very basic, definitely not a luxurious room. Our bathroom had a shower only, even though I picked a room that should have had a shower and a tub. And there was not even a partition to slide to get into the shower so all the water got onto the floor. It looked like there was a missing door. When I went to the customer service agent she said no, that's the way it's supposed to be. There were no drawers and only a few hooks. And I've never been in a room which had such poor lighting. Furthermore they advertised the room is having Queen beds. These were definitely not queen beds they were clearly full size beds. For three people the room was very small. Otherwise it was clean. Based on the price I guess you could say it was okay but I think it's false advertising for them to market this room as luxurious. It's definitely not. It's truly giving Tru by Hilton vibes. If you need more space I would just pay the extra 25 bucks a night for a bigger room at another hotel. They also marketed a full restaurant. I didn't see that. And they had a bar area but there was never any one serving drinks there. And there was no free breakfast. Actually there was no breakfast at all. Definitely a bare-bones hotel. If you're looking for a cheap place really close to downtown Charleston this is the place for you but do not expect any bells and whistles or...
Read moreSummary: The hotel is clean, beautiful, and the staff was very nice. The location was good, and overall, I was pretty happy. See the pros and cons below:
Pros: -The hotel is right off the road, but in a very quiet and safe location - no street noise that I could hear. The room was quiet too (aside from the occasional loud TV) -Surrounded by convenient food, shopping, and gas -VERY clean, comfortable beds, housekeeping needs a raise -Keurig with actual creamer pods, not those pasty powder packs -The restaurant is pretty good and moderately priced -Amenities include a very clean gym, a pool outside, and guest wash washers and dryers that are conveniently located and easy to find -USB ports next to the bed for charging Plenty of hot water for baths The chaise lounge is slim, but long enough to be a bed, so if you have a kid or a teen teenager, they’ll have a comfortable place to lay down.
Cons -The fridge doesn’t get cold and was missing the knob to make it colder, when I called the front desk, I was told they all were, And if I wanted my items colder, I could store them in a communal fridge that is locked, Very inconvenient for someone who has to refrigerate medication like I did. Also, there is no freezer, so if you need ice packs, you’re out of luck. -One of my USB ports was broken -No complementary breakfast, which at this price point and this not being a luxury hotel, I would expect -Desk chair is too short for the desk, and the lamp at the desk is like staring directly into the sun. It’s definitely not great for working. -The rate more than doubled from Thursday to Friday night, There was no holiday, no special occasion. When compared to Hilton Garden, Hampton Inn, etc., other comparable and nicer hotels which DID include breakfast and other amenities, this hotel was priced at least $40-$50 more, which did...
